And I am not merely referring to the 8 hours that most people are supposed to get at night. Here, I mean something as minuscule as a one or two-hour-long nap. Personally, whenever I take a nap, regardless of whether I had food immediately beforehand, I wake up more or less starving. Is this normal? Or, am I just an unusually hungry person?

I'd look at why you feel the need to nap.... Most people can make it through from morning to night without needing more sleep.  If you're fatigued enough that you need a nap it could be that you're not getting enough sleep.  Or it could be that you're not getting enough energy to keep you going.  Food choices matter..... foods high on the GI (Glycaemic Index) scale, for example, can cause crashes in blood-sugar shortly after eating and this makes people sleepy.   So you might nap because your blood-sugars had got too low and then when you wake up you need energy to get them back up again.

So make sure you're getting enough energy (calories) for your size/age/activity level.   Choose more foods that provide sustained energy.... wholegrains, starchy vegetables, lean proteins, fats, wholefoods... and choose fewer of the ones that provide short-burst energy.... sugars, refined starches, processed foods.   Eat regularly rather than skipping meals and make sure that your diet is varied enough to provide you with a good range of different nutrients... especially iron and B vitamins.

Good luck
