This week I have not been sleepy when I go to bed. I have been waking up and going to bed on the same schedule I have for a long time. Normally by this time I am at least somewhat sleepy. I get about 8 hrs of sleep a night, normally going to bed between 11:30-12pm and waking up between 7:45-8am. This morning though, my alarm went off at 7:45am and I hit snooze and woke up at 8:30am. Not a big deal, but now I am so sleepy. I was trying to read and was struggling to keep my eyes open. I didn't know if it has anything to do with my not being sleepy at bed time and not sleeping as well or maybe what I'm eating or what. I haven't changed my diet recently, other than the past couple of days I've eaten butternut squash and mango for the first time. Other than that, nothing new. Any ideas?

How much caffeine do you consume?

hmm...maybe your mind is racing or you're excitied about something...I'm not always tired when I know I have to go to bed.  It could be caffeine, it could really be anything.

Trying reading a book when you go to bed and hopeful that will relax you enough to fall asleep at a good time!

I don't consume caffiene, at least not in beverages. I drink decaf coffee and sometimes I eat a 60 calorie dark chocolate stick, but that's it. Not sure what I'd be excited about. I ended up getting a splitting headache, so I laid down for a while and took a little nap. I hope I can still sleep tonight. We'll see!

You might be coming down with something. I felt the same on monday, and know I have a viral head cold. listen to your body- if it wants sleep it probably needs sleep :)
