Sleeping in

Quote  |  Reply

So I just started my time off work and I have obviously been very exhausted because I woke up today at about 11:50pm! And I plan a few more holiday sleep-ins in the next few days. SO, as far as calorie counting is concerned, should I eat less on these days?

e.g. minus off the cals I would have had for breakfast and a morning snack and just start with lunch?

So if I normally have 1800 cals a day, with about 500cals before lunchtime, should I eat 1300 on days I wake up late, orrrr should I just eat normally anyway?

Let me know! Thanks :)

Haha trust me I am taking advantage of every holiday sleep in that I can before school starts up again. :PI think it's probably okay to eat about the same amount you normally do. Especially since you might stay up later when you sleep in later! :) If you're still worried about it, I would just try to be a little more active for the rest of the day to make up for it, which shouldn't be too difficult if getting more sleep gives you more energy. :)

You should eat what your body feels it needs, don't simply eat because you feel you need to eat an allotted amount of calories. Everyday I typically work out until around lunch, so I only eat two meals a day and typically they equate to a calorie allotment suitable to my size, weight, lifestyle, etc... so you need to do what is necessary for your lifestyle.

Enjoy that sleep though!!! Sleep is AMAZING and cures all! ha ha! Stay in bed as LONG AS YOU CAN... but when you are awake don't forget to get in a little exercise!!

I normally sleep in on Sundays and I find that that tends to lead to me eating less then than on other days (e.g. 1400 cals on a Sunday if I would normally eat 1800).  It's not that I'm doing it deliberately; I'm just not awake as long.  Just don't eat less than your BMR, and you'll be fine.
