Wow- thanks for sharing your Slim stories, Now I know I do have something to look forward to. When I weighed in yesterday I couldn't believe it! I'm loving the fact that this IS the FIRST diet I went on and seen results that fast. I tried odds and ends mainly the one where u have to take diet pills and this time around I told myself I don't want to take any pills they are a waste of money and I never get results...

Sararnorton- thats exactly what I was going to do, use the Slim til I reached my goal and towards the end "wing" off the slim and start replacing with healthy meals.

50lbstogo- Thats fantastic about the weight loss I will ck out the website this week.

aftonmae- I seen the powder slim but- If I bought that the powder It would be on the shelf somewhere NOT touched lol.

CC- I would like to try that low carb slim too. how many cals are in that? I never seen a slimfast with low carb, there is a local walmart (infact thats where I just bought my royal chocalate at this week) but If I'd seen that I probably would've picked that one up because I do need to watch my carbs too.

Tashak--here's the nutrition info from my low-carb can:

Calories: 190

Fat: 9g (1.5g Sat, 0g Trans, 1.5g Poly, 6g Mono)

Cholest: 15mg

Sodium: 260 mg

Potassium: 550 mg

Carbs: 6g (Fiber 4g, Sugars 1g, Other 1g, Net Carbs: 2g)

Protein: 20g

Vit C: 100%

Vit E:  100%

All other nutrients vary, around 30% (from Zinc 15% to Calcium 40%)

The net carbs are great.  It's very filling (they use thickeners like guar gum, which is a good soluble fiber) and just sweet enough (they use Sucralose.)  I get the creamy chocolate flavor, and my daughter prefers the vanilla (she uses it for breakfast when she's in a hurry.)  The better taste and low net carbs make this version worth looking for.  Remember, though, to keep it sane--don't eat less than 1200 calories per day or you'll end up in starvation mode and stop losing.  Eat a balanced dinner and supplement through the day with fruits, nuts, low-fat dairy like yogurt, etc. to stay at your 500-1000 calorie deficit.  Don't be tempted to live on less than 1200 calories, even if it feels like you can do it!  Stay adequately fed and nourished with good, healthy stuff.

yea , I have no problem staying within my limits (bcause I got to eat) and I don't want to come to a standstill. Well today started off in a rut...I left my shakes and meal at home. I had to get a blueberry muffin for breakfast and  lunch I dunno yet  hopefully it will be calorie friendly and hold me over till I get home.Yell Alright can't wait till fridays posting!

So how did u guys do with ur cals or diet over the weekend?? do tell all

It's pretty easy for me to avoid temptation--I just stay away from it.  *g*  But I've eaten out twice in the last week, including the weekend, and I'm always able to order things that I can keep within my calorie allowances for dinner.  For other 'meals', I just have a salad while everyone else is eating.  I'm going to have to become one of those people who carries her own salad dressing, though; mine are better, and lower calorie, than I can find at restaurants.  At one, I just had to squeeze a lemon section over my salad--nothing fat free there, at all.

I do find, though, that if I wait too long for my dinner because I'm out and busy, I'll get a headache and feel poorly, and that'll last all day.  Now I eat some of my allowed foods that I usually have later--fruit or yogurt, etc.--before I go out, if dinner is going to be delayed.

I slipped up once...

last night....

I was in my calorie zone...

and my mother had made spegetti...

which I wasn't going to eat until she put the garlic bread on, I got tempted and caved in to eat!...and the whole house was like....I thought u were on a d i e t and u KNO u can't eat this u cant go over ur calories....I ate anyways but I felt like I failed or like everyone in the house expects me not to stick to it, but hell I only slipped up once, I don't know how many calories it was but

maybe I can get back on track today.Undecided

Wouldnt it make more sense just to eat small portions of food you actually like? Rather than eating up cals in crappy tasting shakes? I know you have heard this a million times before but im not understanding how this really helps anyone longterm with weightissues actually keep it off for life?

Sounds silly to me that you think you can continue with shakes for the rest of your life eventually you will have to come back to reality and realize you gotta eat smaller portions of foods you already love incorporate some exercise into this and battaboombattabang you lose weight and learn how to eat healhty.

so I heard. I never came on here and said I was going to drink Shakes for the rest of my life nor did I say I was never going to not incorporate exercise with my diet

I did say however I was going to start slow with my new diet, incorporate exercise around Dec or Jan (after I learn how to eat, which Im already loosing weight) and then towards the time I meet my goal to let off the shakes and eat healthy with the right portions of food. I'm not replacing all 3 meals with shakes-no,no, I eat breakfast then have a shake, I eat lunch and then have a shake, I eat dinner with no shake SO I do take it that I do eat. Slim is a jump starting kit to help u loose- its up to u to maintain that weight loss after the fact. But don't twist wat I say, and don't asume Im dieting w/o exercise. Yell

Tashak, remember I said there will be some who will be negative, well that's a taste of it lol.  Altho what she says makes sense, it's not like we don't know that.  It will come as we move along, at the maintenance stage.  Go to slimfast.com, sign up and you will be among buddies that are doing the slim fast diet, that you can talk to daily and who are positive.  You and I know why we have resorted to this. It works, it contains vitamins and it's an easy grab, and I'm sure like me you still have a proper meal at night.  I'm in law school and working and this diet is easy for me.  The thing I find w/ slim fast, that I don't get from food, during the weight loss process, is that keeps me fuller longer.  Anyways, hope to see you on slimfast.com.  Oh and about the spaghetti, did you enjoy it?  If you did, well then it was worth it, just go back to you plan.  Take care Tashak.

Peace

see I like positive! thanks 50 and hell yea that spaghetti was goodEmbarassedlol

Angie, different things work for different people.  If using Slimfast wouldn't help you reach your goals, then you shouldn't use it.  You might give it a try, though; the low-carb "creamy chocolate" shakes I drink are far from "crappy tasting".  *g*  In my case, I used them as a nutrition booster, first, to help with my immune deficiency, and they worked so well I decided to try the reducing plan, which is also working great for me--and, yes, I may use one or two shakes per day indefinitely, because of the way they've improved my health.  There's no reason anyone can't drink the shakes for as long as they want to; they're very nutritious.  I'm learning all I need to know about calories, nutrition values and portion sizes as I log my foods and count calories.  One thing you'll learn, as you spend time on CCPlus and participate in the community, is that there's no one right way to approach weight loss that works best for every body--bodies are different, needs are different, and approaches are going to be different.  By all means, you stick with what works for you.

Tashak, there is no "fail" in this process, because it IS a process, a long-term one, and no one's grading you daily (well, except for the food analyzer.  *g*)  Spaghetti is a great meal, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.  You be glad, too!   You're learning a lifestyle, not taking a test, and there will be spaghetti in your life.  It's okay.  :)  There's no reason why you can't eat something you really want to eat, then adjust your diet to compensate for it over the rest of the day, or even over the course of the week.  Nothing's carved in stone; flexibility is good!

Well I gave in to stress today and had a donut this morning of all things.  I guess that means chicken salad for me for dinner.  Oh well, I did however enjoy every bite of the donut lol.  Yesterday was a good day in all, had a shake for breakfast and lunch, had a banana and an apple for snack and had dinner w/ my family just controlled portion.  I'm down 2 lbs as of this morning (that was before the donut tho lmbo).  Good luck to everyone.  Have a healthy day.

DIETS

Give me the strength
and time to stay away
from all the goodies in the fridge
that keep me looking that way!

The chocolates and the frostings
that all taste so sweet
that extra bag of candy
left from Trick or Treat!

My mouth is a watering
and trying to give in
but my thighs are staring up at me
WARNING: It's a Sin!

My tummy sure is growling
and turning to and fro
but my sag there just laughs
it don't need to grow!

After all of this
a running through my mind
Ah Hell, I'll start tomorrow
for now - It's quitting time!!!

thats cuteLaughing.... I DID NOT get to weigh myself this morning so I could post for u guys, but I promise to have a post monday. I went to the slim website and found it kinda hard to navigate around....

but, this morning I only had a shake about an hour or two ago and Im already hungry. Usually I eat eggs and toast and then a shake but I was in such a hurry, I only had a shake....Hopefully I can last till lunch time 12 and eat my little frozen BBQ chicken....

I don't do the slimfast diet, but I do like to drink the Kroger brand, slimrite ultima (20 calories less and more protien) twice a day, the first one about 30 minutes before I do my cardio workout and another one on my way home from work.  Drinking the one on the way home from work helps me to not pig out while I'm cooking dinner, or to impulse buy at the grocery if I stop there first on my way home.  It doesn't fill me up or keep me full, but it does take the edge off any hunger pains I may have.  Good luck to all of you in reaching your goals.

~Brigid

finally got to load a pic. this is me and my ma. Im on the right. in my profile u can see a pic of my beautiful baby, whom is another motivator for me to loose weight.Smile

Frown ...I been within my cals all week and to be honest, I feel bloated, I started to take some water pills because I just ended my U kno what. and the water pills is only a temp relief...

Im getting a little discourage, my lunches are little portions and Im hungry bfore I leave work sometimes and I  really don't want to go over my cal intake, I need to think of something- something Im doing wrong, I didn't want to incorperate exercise until I trained my body to eat smaller portions but now i feel like if I don't work out now Im not going to see any results.....I wish I could go  home after work and take a drowsy benedral pill and sleep through the whole night so I don't have to eat....

Tashak,  I'm glad to hear that slim-fast is working as a jumping-off point to get into a healthy lifestyle!  And I understand what you mean about wanting to sleep just so you don't have to eat, but it concerns me.  Please don't do that!  It is not healthy physically or psychologically!

You may need to up your caloric intake with some dietary fiber or lean protein.

Tashak, I think you need to raise your calories.  I'm eating anywhere from 1400 to 1600 per day by incorporating "snacks" like fresh fruit, yogurt (fat- and sugar-free), 1/4 cups of nuts, etc.  If you're getting hungry and not feeling well, you've gone too low.  Add some good snacks into your diet and see how you feel, then.  You can always taper down later if you hit a plateau.

Tashak your right the slimfast site is a bit hard to maneover.  Anyways I agree with the rest of the gals, you do need to up your calories if your hungry.  You don't have to stay at 1200 calories, just try healthy snacks in between to keep  you feeling full and have a good meal in the evening as well.

Good luck.  Lovely picture btw.
