SLim Fast DIet success so far.
any one ever try the Slim Fast? I been On a strict calorie intake of 1250-1350daily with My slim fast shakes...SO far I have loast 4.3lbs and I been on since sunday. I am posting my weight every friday. Start weight 199lbs looking to loose 60lbs.
anyone have any comments about the slim? SO far its been great for me

Okay well I started the SlimFast diet as part of my decision to lose weight in 2008 :-) I've done the SlimFast thing before, just not strictly (I'd drink one for breakfast, but mainly just cuz it was easy - I never replaced 2 full meals with one before). But so now I'm sticking to it and maintaining a diet of less than 1700 calories a day (usually closer to 1500-1600). It's working great (last week I had lost 5 lbs total so far). My typical diet for the day looks as follows:
Breakfast (8:30) - SlimFast
Morning Snack (10:00) - Grapes & Apple
Lunch (1:00) - SlimFast & 100 cal pack (I love goldfish pretzels)
Afternoon Snack (4:00) - Applesauce cup (lite version w/ Splenda!)
Evening Snack (5:30) - granola bar (100 calories or less versions)
Dinner (7:30) - Lean Cuisine
Dessert (9:00) - 2 or 3 dark chocolate squares or a skinny cow ice cream bar
I also bring a bag full of baby carrots that I munch on in between. So lots of eating almost all day long, but I'm almost always around 1000 calories by the end of my 8 - 6 work day. I always make sure I eat at least 1300 calories, and my food analysis is always at least an A- by the end of the day! :-)
If you like it KEEP IT. Its better than empty junk cals.
If you feel bloated all the time you may be needed a little more water and fiber. Get a pill or eat your favorite fiber stocked fruit or veggies. (apples and broccolli are my two favs-not together lol)
I am using to to start off my new year loss. I was creeping along in december at 1/2 a pound a week. Now with a more nutrient dense intake... I lost over an inch on my waist and 10 pounds this month already. And I wasnt that heavy to begin with (22 bmi)
Its great to hear all these sucessful and some what unsucessful stories,
gives everyone somethin to relate to. I think Slimfast can help u MELT the fat but its up to you to tone your body....
I really want to make some life changes, at the same time I'm going through a lot personally and when u have a lot going on u can easily find yourself "falling off" but I want to easily find my self blowing of some steam in the gym with my friends.
that way this summer it will pay off! and I won't spend another summer inside looking out!

I am starting my slim fast diet tomorrow. I am so excited but extremely scared. With every diet I go on I take off 10 lbs and then quit. I cant do that this time. I am 21 and already have type 2 diabetes. My weight is 245 and I am 5 feet 6 inches tall. I am going to be drinking slim fast twice a day, eating healthy snacks and for supper I am either going to have chicken breast, brown rice and vegetables or a can of healthy soup. I have to do the same thing everyday because the moment I get off track is the moment I quit the diet. Also, I am going to be using an elliptical machine and stretch bands for exercise - hopefully at least 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week.
I am wondering how long it is or has taken everybody to take the weight off using slim fast or the other brands of meal replacement drinks?
Just keep in sensible, and avoid the temptation to undereat. It won't get you there faster, and makes it more likely that you'll quit.
I don't like their bars and snacks, though. My food issue was taste and quantity, so Iused the shakes to make me realize that food is fuel, not a hobby. I drink the cappucino every day, though my three kids drink the other flavors for breakfast. They hate to eat in the mornings, but I insist, so we compromised with a shake and then fruit an hour later.
If you want to, feel free to PM me with anything. I am happy with my progress so far, and can't wait to see where I am at my one year mark! (I had to convince a long-time client that I was me a few days ago. She didn't recognize me!)

I been pretty good with the gym lately....all you have to do is stay committed. Im looking to loose 60lbs...by july or august...do u think that is possible? July or August...I hope so. Which reminds me I have to go stock up on my Slim drinks tonight.
Did anyone have any tempatations, how do you handle going out to resturants with your friends...I went to Damons saturday and ordered their apple flavored chicken it was great but I only ate half.
Also went to Buffalo Wild wings<--cant say I ate half there!

I agree, the only thing you have to do with any exercise or diet plan is stay committed.
on the good news front, I haven't weighed myself but I am pretty sure I have lost a couple of pounds. I'll know more after I go work out today.
I think they are called peanut butter crunch...(not meal bars but snacks)

I had a penut butter flavored bar but it wasn't slimfast it was some other brand and it ruined it for all the penut butter bars out there! lol but my absolute favorite is the crispy carmel bar, I swear I could eat like 3 of those in a row!
any ways I didn't work out last night....but Im definatly going tonight. Trying to stay on track. any updates on anyone else?

I am going to get a good work out today. This is my second week working out I've been walking at a 3.0 speed (started off at 1.9 then 2.5 now my 3.0) I know thats like walking fast paced but one of the reasons
i need to get in shape is for my asthma. so I feel almost good enough to take it to 3.5 hopefully....I know most of u are like 3.0? thats nothing! but have I dont have lungs like the rest of you, this weight is affecting my breathing...But hey somethings better than nothing....

I am glad this thread got bumped because I have a question. Which type of Slim fast tastes better the Optima or the Original? Also which flavors taste better.
I ask this because I have moments during the day where just nothing looks appealing and I don't want my calories to drop down low. So I figure this is a good alternatives for such days (meals). I plan to get the ready made cans. And I like strawberry and vanilla flavors. Do those taste good in the slim fast variety?
hello everyone!! I'm glad i found this forum again. I made a post back in October when this thing started. I used slim fast about 5 years ago and lost 20 pounds very quickly. And i have KEPT THE WEIGHT OFF!!
Now my goal is just another 5-10 pounds. Not only am i starting slim fast again to help me lost some weight fast, but I have gotten in a very bad habit of restrictive eating and then binge eating. What they call a BED disorder. So I'm using the slim fast to help me get HEALTHY!!!
I am one of those people who always needs a dessert after dinner, not necessarily something big, but just something sweet!! I'm trying to kick that habit and realize that it's not a necessity to eat that crap ALL the time.... just every once in a while :)
momto...I drink the creamy milk chocolate optima shakes, I HAVE to have it served on lot and lots of ice, taste so good EXTRA cold (rather than drinkin out the can) U kno I never tried the strawberry flavor...but I'll buy a six pack and give it a try. I encouraged my friend to to on the slim diet yesterday...and she's going to the gym with me. I would really like for her to loose weight to.
Sunshine...glad to have you back! keep us posted on your slim diet Im sure we all want to know what works and what doesn't. I was in the gym for 4 hours last night all cardio...I meet with a PT on wenesday hopefully he can help me in the right direction...
I think I'm going to start the slimfast diet too. I have a wheat allergy so I have to be extra carefull about what I eat.. I currently weigh about 147ish ( it varies so much). I'm nursing and so I have to keep my caleries up in order to keep my milk..so losing weight is going slow!!!! I get so frustrated, but I know that it's the best for my baby. She is 4 months old and I've already lost what I gained during pregnancy (25lbs) and then some. One thing I don't like is I eat at night..I do so good all day then I come home and eat like I haven't eaten all day! I know that if I would stop eating in the eve I would lose so much faster ...any suggestions?
Also do you think that drinking a slimfast shake hot like coffee would taste good? I drink a cup or two of coffee in the am to hold off eating until noon...I know it's not very good, but that's why I'm curious about hot slimfast. Do you think it would taste like a cappicino?

I do not think it would be a good idea to warm up your slim drink how ever I never tried it...but yea give slim a try they have shakes for every1 need they have carb counters calorie counters shakes for latose intolerant whey shakes fiber shakes something for every one which is great how may other diets can do that! hmmm.

I started a multivatamin yesterday, went to Golds Gym and done water exercise...Tonight I get to see a Personal Trainer! hopefully he can give some great advise. I been to the gym everyday this week...I can go 5 solid days a week is that ok?
I think if your just doin cardio its okay, but if your doing strength training then u have to have that rest in between to relax ur muscles I dunno sound good to me.
but when I left the gym, I was hungry so Im driving and passing all these places to eat...Im proud I didn't stop! I went home made a big salad with my favorite french dressing and a slim drink and crashed.
