So I am in need of slimming down a bit in two weeks. I am curious as to how healthy it is to eat veggies, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and slim fast for two weeks. Minimal to no bread, tons of water, and thats it. I am going to do pilates and Jillian Michaels dvds every other day, and cardio. I'm hoping it works. Anybody have any advice??
Any protein?
I don't know - you could do worse than including Slim Fast, but you could do better too. What do you feel Slim Fast offers you in this effort that you can't get from real food?
And protein - as posted above, make sure you get enough protein for muscle development, which will help your metabolism.
Besides that, I'm curious as to why you're only focused on the next two weeks. Why not make a permanent, healthy, lifestyle change?
I forgot that I am also eating hard boiled eggs w/o the yolk. I'm figuring that is a good protein source...? The thing is, I have been doing really well making this a permanent lifestyle, but my friend came to town last week, and I splurged. Beer, drinks, pizza....way too much fun :P I have never tried slim fast before, but what I can tell already is that it suppresses my appetite. This whole healthy lifestyle 24/7 is tricky...but I'm determined. I just need something to boost my body's metabo and slim down within these two weeks. ya know??
Slim Fast has protein if I remember correctly.
However, Slim Fast also says to lose weight it is to be used as a meal replacement for two of your meals. That would mean you are only eating one meal of food then two meals comprised of a slim fast drink. Doesn't sound healthy at all.
The most weight that you can lose safely over a two week period is four pounds. Anything more would be unhealthy. That number might even be lower depending on your current BMI. Posting your stats would be helpful. As other posters have already stated, it is much better to focus on permanent changes as opposed to quick fixes.
Yeah it does have a little protein. You all are right though...I need to stick with healthy permanent changes and not look for a two week quick slim down. I'm going back to my hometown and am bound to see my ex.....therefore....it looks like the good ol' Spanx is going to be my most dependable crutch for when I go home lol....thanks guys.
Spanx are a gift from angels! I wear them all the time. Think of it this way- you may see your ex this time not as prepared as you would like but imagine how much more shocking it will be the next time you run across him after you have made the permanant changes! That way the next time you see him you wont be right back where you started because of yo-yo dieting and he will surely notice.

If he is your ex, then why should you be concerned about his opinions? It is your body, and therefore imperative that you be comfortable with it. Other people should worry about their own bodies.
Yeah...but c'mon...you know it feels damn good to look and feel smokin'....not only in the eyes of an ex...but people you haven't seen in awhile. I know I'm not the only chick that want's that ex-boy/girlfriend to be like, "damn....she is looking good!" lol. Those Jillian Michaels workouts sure as heck make me feel better in that little black dress :)

To each their own I guess
Definitely....it's what makes the world go around. It may sound like I'm too interested in vanity...but I think it's just a self esteem thang...

You're not. ;)
mm...and they are so yummy. Lentils are so yummy
Thank you!!! I didn't think so ;)
I tried the Slim Fast diet for awhile, and it really didn't work for me. I found that I was already starving within about an hour of having my morning shake, and replacing two meals a day with Slim Fast just wasn't enough food, or a healthy way to lose weight.
I thought it would be a quick fix, but I did it for about 2 weeks and didn't lose any weight, plus I was hungry all the time.
I don't think that Slim Fast is a bad call if you're running late in the AM and need something super quick for breakfast, but as far as using it as a long term diet.....not a good plan.
I went back to eating 5-6 small meals a day, lots of protein, fruits and veggies, etc, and I've dropped about 4 lbs already, plus I feel a lot better!
Oh, and yes, Spanx are a godsend! :)
Legumes dont have enough, unless consumed in huge amounts but that blows caloric limit out the window.
I eat lentils, beans, and nuts...which through some research seem like great sources of protein. Does beer have protein?? hehe I kid. But...yeah, protein seems like a main staple in a healthy diet.

I'd keep the yolk....the egg white has marginally more protein than the yolk, but together you get the whole shebang of protein. There is extra fat and cholesterol in the yolks, yes, but it is healthy fat and cholesterol. If it makes you feel better you can have one whole egg and the rest as whites. Disregard this if you don't like hard-boiled yolks...lol
forgot some people don't like them. But you should eat a whole egg if you like the yolk in other styles of egg (poached, fried, soft-boiled). Egg yolks get a bad rap...everything in moderation is perfectly fine.
Oh Puhlease! Men crack me up bc as far as they know, there is no other protein than eggs and meat. How do you think vegetarians and vegans (like myself) live substansially? and its not just about tofu either.
you can acquire a sufficient amount of your daily protein needs by eating lots of veggies(yes most have preteins in them!) and beans and other sources.. light fish the egg whites like you said.
dont feel the need to overdue it.. just bc someone who isnt quite as educated told you so. research it mamma. and show that ex what hes missin :-P
