When I reach my ultimate goal weight:

I am DEFINITELY going to look forward to the beach, and buying all new clothes!

I am looking forward to getting dressed more easily in the morning and not having to fight with my shirts to not show my belly chub!

I am looking forward to not having to avoid certain situations where I would have previously felt uncomfortable like just being in the public eye in general!

My life will be different because:

I will be able to believe my boyfriend when he tells me how beautiful he thinks I am

I will be able to feel like nothing is holding me back in the world

I will have reached my ultimate goal through hard work and dedication, and will then know that anything is possible!

Update 2008/08/01 - things have really slowed down lately. I just haven't really been trying like I used to. Really need to pick it up for the month of August. Don't think 15lbs is possible, but setting my goal at 10lbs for the month!

When I reach my ultimate goal weight:

- I'm going on a shopping spree! I will look forward to shopping in "normal" stores for the first time in my life.
- I will be able to take the stairs without losing my breath
- I will take better care of my body so that I never end up where I was again
- I'm going to an amusement park and riding roller-coasters without worrying whether or not it's going to hold me in
- If I have loose skin (likely) then I will get plastic surgery so that I can enjoy/feel comfortable in my new body

How my life will be different:

- It will be easier for me to meet new people, and not wonder what they are thinking about me.
- When my man tells me I'm beautiful, I will believe him.
- Might be TMI, but my sex life will be soo much better
- I won't have to worry about whether or not I will fit in the seat on a plane, at a sports event, etc.

good luck everyone.  I need this challenge to get me off my butt and losing weight!  Sorry it took me so long to get the Start Weight thing.  I think I have it right now.

8/8 update  I finally broke through the 200 barrier! Now I have my sights set on 195 I may not make my goal of 185 by September but the scales are heading in the right direction.  I want to finish August strong!!

8/1 update  I've been having way too much fun in the sun lately.  The only thing saving me from gaining is that I'm walking every day.  But I'm running out of summer so I'm going to stick to the calorie counting again to see if I can finally break the 200 mark.

7/25 update  I see a pattern here for me.  I drop a couple of pounds and then a mini plateau for a week.  I hope that means I'll drop below the 200 mark next week.  That would be a big ego boost for me.  Keep up the good work everyone.

Is this thread stil open to join?

As long as you're going to stick with us, I don't see why not! Just start from tomorrow if that works for you!

I'm already really enjoying wearing clothes that suit me and look good, instead of just clothes that I can get to fit me.  I just love it when I look in the mirror and nice clothes look good on me, and that feeling can only get better at my goal weight.  I am also looking forward to being a faster runner at my goal weight, due to a combination of a lighter body weight, and better physical condition.

My life will be different because hopefully my weight will cease to be my excuse for relationships gone bad, low self esteem, poor self confidence.  I'm not saying that these problems will go away, but I can no longer blame them on my weight, and have to tackle them head on.

Start Weight: 215 (Jan 2, 2008)

Challenge Start Weight (June 6): 178.8

Goal (by end of challenge): 163.8 -- I know that's not 25 pounds, but five pounds a month is more realistic for me right now. I'd be thrilled to lose more, but I don't want to set myself up for failure here.

thighs: 35 1/2, 35 , 34 1/2,34 1/2

As of now I have lost over 35lbs of my initial 50lb battle and I am a "healthy BMI but I still have a ways to go to get to goal which will put me in the middle of my BMI range.

So far I feel fantastic!  It has been a trip worth taking.  My only regret is that and I wish I had hopped on board sooner.

When I reach my ultimate goal weight:

Of course I'll go shopping.  What I really want is to maintain it for at least a year and then have a "mommy tuck" and a boob lift.  I'm also going to start to weight train a lot more heavily (I know you need to eat more then you burn to gain muscle) I don't want to "bulk up but I do want to build back some that I know that I have lost.

How my life will be different:

I want to be the hot momma!  I will never be the young momma but I will be able to keep up.

I won't ever let myself get fat again.

I will continue to choose healthy foods for my family and myself.

I will enjoy trying on clothes. I will look fantastic in them!

I will be a healthy role modle for my daughter to emulate.

Update 8/15: At least the numbers are going down.  It's slow but I'll take it!

Update 8/22: Yup.  Still going down.  With my new goal I am almost there!  I have started running with my daughter's cross country team and it is really getting me into shape.  I'll take 1 pound a week!

Update 8/29: Since it's so close to totm I think I will not be at my goal of 150 by Sept. 1.  Oh, well.  Better luck next time!

Update 8/29 Yeah, I reached my challenge goal a week early!!!! Now, onto the final goal of 150. It feels so good to be more than half way there.

Update 8/15 I was getting really frustrated for a few days because my weight was not going down hardly at all. But just in time for weigh in this morning it finally dropped. Yeah!

Update 8/01 - I'm now officially wearing a size 14. I'm about to retire my size 16 jeans forever! I bought a pair of size 12's for inspiration because the smallest size in my closet from previous years have been 14s and I'm now wearing them.

Update 7/25 - I'm nervous about meeting my goal. I'm doing good but I need to loose almost 2 lbs a week to make my goal. I hope I didn't set it too high.

Update 7/18 - I'm still going but the 180's is a hard time for me because in the past few years this is where my weight usually stayed for long periods of time. I'll be glad when I'm finally into the 170's.

Update 7/11 - I'm almost half way there! I kept my deficit right at 1000 calories under my burn meter each day (except on splurge day) and I'm still working out like crazy. I have to make sure I'm getting enough protein to keep up with the work outs. You can read more in my journal.

Update 7/04 - I managed to walk every day on my vacation but not as much as I do at home. It was also impossible to keep up with calories because of the food we were fed. But I tried to eat as clean as possible. I'm sure I got more calories than I wanted but there wasn't much healthy produce to fill up on either. I'm glad to be back home. Hopefully, this week I will be able to loose more. I sure am anxious to be out of the 190's forever! I'm SO close. Maybe tomorrow Wink.

Update 6/27 - Going on vacation this week. I'm taking my walking shoes and weights. We'll see how I do away from home. If this is going to be a "lifestyle" change, a vacation is no excuse to do poorly!

Update 6/20 - I can't remember the last time I worked out so hard. I'm walking about 6 miles a day and doing water aerobics for 1 to 1 1/2 hours each weekday morning. I'm sore but feeling GREAT! I'm keeping my calories around 1200-1300 a day.

After the Challenge: If (when) I make my goal, I will weigh less than I have in 20 years! Over the past 20 years, I have occasionally gotten my weight down some but never lower than 177. My goal for this challenge is 174. My ultimate goal is 150. But that may adjust a few pounds one way or another because I'm not sure what will be best for me at age 54. When I was 20, I did weigh 140-145 and that was just right for me then. But I doubt it is my best weight now. (I'm 6 foot tall.)

I plan to stay active. Someday, I want to be the grandmother that everyone said they couldn't keep up with. Wink I want to go to my grave having never had to use pharmaceutical drugs to keep me alive. I want to be naturally healthy. I want my grandchildren to remember me as a "fun" grandparent.

Start Weight: 137.8 June 6

Goal (by end of challenge): 125

August 8: 132.9

8/8 update: I'm not unhappy with my progress but I know it could be better. The good thing is that I've still had my little endulgences here & there but am still making progress. More than anything, I really want to make this a lifestyle that I can keep going. If my portions aren't small and my choices aren't careful, I will gain it back. I've had enough of that!

7/10 EDIT: I feel like I had a really good week. My trend line is headed down again. If I can stay in the groove, I should at least get very close to my goal by 9/1!

7/18 Edit: Still feel pretty much on track. Wish I'd straightened up sooner! Ah, well, that's water under the bridge now.
