Slow and steady wins the race? Really?
I know, I know. The slower you lose the weight, the more likely you are to keep it off. But I need some words of incouragement to really set that in. I've lost 14.2 pounds since Jan. 6th, but it feels like this isn't happening fast enough. Just make it all go away. HELP?
I feel frustrated, and upset with myself. Why do I want this to come off faster? I just keep beating myself up. Tell me that this is good, and I am losing weight at a normal rate. PLEASE?
Jan 6th is about 14 weeks, right - so 14 lbs in 14 weeks? That's awesome!!! It's exactly what we hope for - it's measurable, but it's not so fast that you'll stall out.
If you are keeping a 500 cal deficit, it's exactly what you'd expect, and it sounds like you are doing great. You'll get to your goal, and it'll take some time, but you'll look back and be glad that it took as long as it did - it'll make you appreciate where you end up.
You are doing GREAT! This is a sustainable change you are making, and it will take awhile to reach your end goal. Make mini-goals based off of a healthy weight loss, BUT don't beat yourself up if you miss by a little on your goals. Beating yourself up can lead you back to eating more and/or making unhealthy food choices.
With a pound a week loss; you really are doing great. I too have to remind myself that if it was gone now it would not be a memorial journey in my life. Instant gratification is hardly ever a lasting gratification. Knowing the time and effort you are putting into this life change should keep you motivated to stay on track.
Don't give up!
You're doing great!!! I'm going even slower. Lost 20 pounds last year and then put about 8-10 back on. So far since the beginning of this year I have lost about 6 pounds. I'm happy with that for now.
Sure, I want to lose more, but I'm also getting stronger (exercising) so I'm losing fat -- not muscle. It takes longer to do it right! I don't want to get skinny, I want to get healthy!
Honey, you are losing about a pound a week, and that may seem slow, but it's a very respectable loss. Think of how fast the time goes by. Most years, it seems like I barely enjoyed the Spring, and then suddenly it's Fall! At just one pound a week, you could be 52 pounds lighter by this time next year. (And it doesn't look like you have that much to lose!) If the pound a week is truly too slow, try adjusting your plan slightly, to go for a 1.5 or 2 pound a week loss. A slight cut in cals and a slight bump in exercise may be enough to do that.
Well, since I've gained about 5 pounds in the same amount of time even though I've been trying to lose (obviously not trying hard enough), I'd say you're doing awesome. Keep it up!
That's about how fast I've been losing. At first it's hard to notice that you're losing weight because you look at yourself every day. So you don't realize that there's been much loss. But one day you'll look in the mirror and think wow i've lost weight! It's a good feeling and you will feel it soon. Hang in there what you're doing is working!
