Slutty Halloween costumes
What is the deal with women and girls of all ages dressing like low-budget prostitutes on Halloween?
I realize they want attention but I personally don't like that kind of attention! What do you guys think?
I think it's sad if it IS about attention.
I also think, mostly, it doesn't hurt anyone else if they choose to wear these costumes, so I don't know that it's really my place to judge.
Edit: Errm, one condition though! They have to actually have a body that can pull off the costume!
i agree that lots of girls choose trashy. i think a lot really go crazy because it's pretty much the only time a year you can go out in a corset and boyshorts and have an excuse for it!
It's ok for an older girl (I don't like it, but it's not so bad), but when I see 9-12 year old girls dressed literally as sluts for Halloween, it makes me cringe. :/
With the odd exception here and there, I've usually dressed up "skanky" on Halloween. I dunno if I subconsciously do it for attention, but I know that I work hard to look the way I do, and I like to show it off, especially on a night where it's seen as "acceptable" (if you're 18+... I really find it disgusting when I see young girls dressed up like sluts, and maybe I'm being a hypocrite here, but oh well!).
And it's just one night of the year, any other night where I go out partying I'm dressed fairly classy.
I may come across as a 19 year old nun here, but I'm not. I have no problem with pre-martial sex, porn and whatever other "un nun like" things you can think of... But seriously, there is a time and a place for showing everything you've got. A party is not that time or place.
Plus, I would like to think that there are still some guys around that appreciate a woman who doesn't dress like a hooker, Halloween or not.
I don't care if adults do, because it's not like they're hurting anyone with their apparel.
Next year I am working my butt of and striving to be able to go out in any of Kate Beckinsale's costumes from Underworld or Van Helsing... Bustiers and high boots!
I honestly have never understood the appeal of dressing skanky on Halloween even before I became a Christian (as an adult).
I understand that sexy is one thing, but it differs greatly in definition between people (brain is the sexiest part of the body to some people). I just can't see how a gal can go around with various reproductive organs hanging out in plain site. I think most would agree that it can be taken too far.
This makes me think about the scene in Mean Girls where she opens the door with a low cut, push-up body suit, fishnets and stillettos, "I'm a mouse, see?" pointing to the ears.
Children however should definitely not dress sexy. Whats with that new trend lately anyway?
Whats wrong with eye candy? Even I would consider dressing up eye-candy-ish (now that i have the body at least). Its not about male or female, its just about playing around and dressing up in a way you couldnt normally even think about.
Its fun / playful... its not a bad thing... just having fun in an unusual way (but thats what holloween is for!)

People shouldn't be so quick to judge others by Halloween attire. On a lighter note those customs aren't low-budget. Therefore, that makes them High Class Prostitutes. Lol
After she left, I got a ton of Didnt I tell you and Arent you glad thats not me. BTW she was being taken to trick or treat (I kept imagining folks opening their door to that) and out to eat with her mom. In public? I did say 16, didnt I. This was not sexy. Hearing of teens wearing these costumes comes no where near seeing a teenager basically dressed up for sex. This liberal me has never felt so conservative in her life.
I was really nervous about the incredibly short length of my dress (especially since I'm a bit leggy), but I got a ton of compliments...and not the offensive types, either.
One doorman at one of the bars called me "beautiful" and congratulated my husband. A guy at another place literally said to me, "Honey, you're gorgeous, and that's coming from a gay guy."
A girl asked me to take a picture with her because she really liked my costume, and I heard another girl tell her friend she thought I was "adorable".
Yet, at another place, a girl walked by in a costume not much more revealing than mine, and some guys shouted "skank" at her. I was afraid to walk by them, but they didn't say a word to me.
It reminds me of when I was in a Christian high school and, despite incredibly strict dress codes, some girls managed to look VERY (for lack of a better word) slutty, despite not breaking any rules about tops or hemlines.
