I think the major problem with my belly is that even though I have a VERY tiny frame...my ribcage is huge and sticks out no matter how much weight I lose! I don't know what to do about it, the closer I get to my goal weight the more I realize that this problem will NEVER go away! What should I do? Does anyone else share my problem?

i understand completely. i have the same problem but for me its in my hips/oblique area. no matter how much weight i lose, i always have really curvy looking hips because my bone is really big and sticks out a ton. but ribs showing looks good. i mean as long as its not starving looking, some ribs showing look really attractive. its just your bone frame, really there is nothing to do about it. everyone is built differently and you jsut have to work with it. as long as you are thin all over, you will look thin!! so just keep your weight down and your ribs will jsut go along with the rest of your body!! jsut walk tall and be proud of your small frame!!! jsut one part of your body doesnt "ruin" the rest of your figure!!! so be happy with yourself:)

Sorry, I don't have any advice but I'm the same way. I'm small framed but my ribcage always sticks out a little at the bottom =( ugh it's so annoying! >.<

i'm the same way! small/medium frame according to my wrist measurement, but you can actually see individual ribs on me and i'm nowhere near thin yet. i'm kind of nervous about what it'll look like when i get to goal.

I definitely have the infamous wide ribcage on a very tiny frame-it's very sad but my ribcage sticks out about the same as my chest!  And my hips are unusually narrow, so my waist looks big in comparison even though it's only 24".  I am a rectangle shape-you probably are too.

I think there's nothing we can really do to get rid of it-just keep focusing on eating healthy, working out and lifting weights-that's what makes your body look the best it possibly can!

my ribcage is normal sized for my frame..I think..its my hips that are the problem! In fact, the other day, I walked through a door way and banged my hip bone on the door frame! Now, I fit through the door fine but I can no longer average how much space I need..lol..I guess we all have funny unproportional parts.

alexandrapaige- im nervous too! I'm gonna look disfigured I think!

I have this same problem. I always buy pants in numbered sizes and shirts in S, M, L sizes, so a few weeks ago I had to try on a bridesmaids dress. I told them my regular size for pants, and the bottom half fit just fine, but around my ribs wasn't even close. So they brought the next size ... still too tight around my ribs. Finally the next size I could squeeze into. They wanted me to go even one more up, but I just couldn't convince myself my ribs were really disproportionate enough to warrant that. :(

things are bad on the opposite camp too... (i have an absolutely tiny rib cage but my thighs are huge--my ribs have always measured 26", even when my thighs were 23.5" >"<|||) The bottom line is, don't believe what convention stipulates. We've been brought up to believe that there's something akin to a 'perfect' or 'ideal' figure, but that's just an average 'proportion' that very few people actually do fall under the umbrella of. Love it or hate it, proportions are pretty much determined unless you decide to shave bits off your bones, (I find that pretty petrifying actually), and there is something that just seems wrong about torturing yourself so much just to fit a mould. (a long time ago, chinese women crushed and binded their feet so that they would be absolutely tiny (just cause the men liked it that way.) Well, it was dainty.... until you opened up the shoes and find gnarled and terribly misshapen feet. Love your ribs, for they are freeeee~!

it really is weird - I'm 36, 5'2", 134-ish lbs, small/medium frame, and pear shaped - I figure all my fat just always shifts south to my legs and butt.  However, you can definitely see every rib on me, my collarbone sticks out big time, and if I'm laying flat on my back, my ribcage seems so huge that you could probably use the two sides as handles to pick me up! But anyway, yeah - it's just the way I'm built.  And I'd gladly take this over when I weighed like 180 lbs at age 13....ugh...no ribs stickin' out then!

I know what you mean about laying flat on your back and they look like handles! I hate it but I'm really glad to hear that I'm not alone!! I guess I just have to learn to love all the parts of my body :)

BTW, I'm pear shaped too but most of my fat seems to accumulate in the pooch below my belly button

I have the exact same issue.  No matter how toned, ripped I can get I still look like I am 'carrying around' something in the front of me!

I'll never have that svelte look where a womans' body goes in under her boobs!  I am 53 and have just come to (barely) accept that is how I am built and has nothing to do with my lack of exercise, wrong diet.

We need to, people like you and me, and probably everyone else on this forum needs to look at the good we have when we find/hear ourselves putting down.

I've always wanted that look to.  I've learned to stand in a certain position when posing for photos, so it doesn't look quite so obvious.

yea, my ribcage is the same... i have big bones in general, so no matter how much weight i lose, i never look slim.

i have the exact same problem. i HATE it.  i feel so self concious and 'top-heavy' because i have no butt, skinny bird legs, skinny arms, but HUGE ribs.  and my ribs make my waist look like a pot-belly.  just poochy no matter how much weight i lose.  i am 5'4", 110 pounds, and have a 26 inch waist.  but i feel like i'm not proportioned well at all.  i also feel like i have sort of a hunch back or rounded back and shoulders instead of having a flat back like everyone else seems to. :(  it sucks, but i'm sure you have other great qualities.  so, as hard as it is to deal with, try and focus on the good things!  and learn to pose certain ways in pictures so its not as obvious!
