small weight loss group wanted (closed)
just read a topic on a weight loss group that sounds like an awesome idea. However i think they had gone over their limit so thought i would try and start my own group.
Previously I have lost 13 kilos (about 30) pounds through a personal trainer. It worked really well for me as someone was pushing and motivating me. Unfortunately I had to stop as I could no longer afford it, however still have food plan, food diaries and gym workout which I am happy to share. (no charge)
I started a 12 body challenge at work with my staff (with the info from my trainer) and had 1 guy loose 23 kilos /50 pounds. He was very overweight tho and it came off very quickly the ladies averaged about 9 kilos. We did a weekly weigh in and I motivated them throghout. The unfortunate part about all this is that I had no one to motivate me as I was motivating them.
Due to being unmotivated I have gained another 6 kilos :-(
Not sure how to start a online group as I have only signed up today but would love to hear from any1 else wanting to join. :-)
My ultimate goals is loose 13 kilos 28.7 pounds, pls help !!!!
I'm in! I don't want to sound too elitist or exclude anyone, but I think we might get better results and be able to stick together longer if we keep our group relatively small and intimate, so we get to know one another and everyone stays in contact.
I'm 5'5", currently at 125 lbs and I'm aiming for 115 lbs by November, my birthday's on the 27th and what better gift to get myself than toned triceps and a sixback? (The non-liquid kind, that is.)
great, I agree I have noticed most of the other groups are relatively small. do u have a number in mind ?
It depends on how many would be interested, but I'm thinking 10 or less?
ok great we will cap it at 10. hopefully we get 10 interested ;-)
Have you been on the site for long, still working my way through it lol..
Are you on any specific diet at the moment?
Just a suggestion but have you tried posting htis on the games and challenges forum? There are many such challenges over there.
I wish you much success in your goals and congratulate you for being a positive influence in others lives and hope you find yours soon as well

Can I be in?! I'm having so much trouble lately because I just started a new job and have to get up at 5am and don't get home til 4pm, I usually fall asleep around 9pm LOL! I've completely stopped counting, I don't know why I guess just being lazy and tired from work. I would love to join though so I had a place and people to be accountable to. I've been on this site for a good while, Feb or March I think. Since then I lost 40 pounds! But now I have been just maintaining. But I still need to lose about 10-15 more pounds. They are buggers to lose to begin with then with my slacking its been completely stalled.
I would be interested!!! I only have a few more pounds that I want to lose, but maintaining is going to be tough!!
I'm so glad to see people are joining in! So far I've counted

- ..and me of course :)
I've been counting for a month or so now, but I know my way around and as far as dieting goes, my head is full of information from years of researching (it's only now that I'm putting any of it to use).
My diet is vegetarian, no sugar or empty carbs (pasta, bread, rice, corn etc), lots of fresh fruit and vegetables with minimal processing.
eveliina- your diet sounds really good. I love fresh fruit and veggies! I now eat salad without dressing (I used to PILE it on) and I realized how good it is plain!!! I try to eat fruit and veggies whenever possible, although sometimes it's hard for me because I live in a dorm and produce doesnt stay fresh for very long, and I dont have a car on campus.
I def avoid empty calories like the plague!
I'm in! My long term goal is to loose 60lbs. My goal by the end of this month is 10lbs. I've only been a member since Monday but I've been on my diet since the 14th. So far so good. I started at 185lbs. I'm afraid to wiegh myself because I don't want to get discouraged if I haven't lost anything after working so hard.
I'm not on any specific diet or workout plan. Just counting cals, lots of fruit and veggies, no fried food, if I eat pasta or bread it's gotta be whole grain, and most importantly I'm working on portion control. As far as working out it's 30-45 min of cardio 4-5 times a week, and light wieght lifting (mainly working my arms).
I really need to find something to work my abbs that doesn't hurt my lower back. Crunches and sit ups on the floor kill my back so I'm thinking of getting an exercise ball...has any one used one of these? If so, does it work as well as floor crunches?
I'm a 25 yr old mother of one. I would like to 70lbs by April 2009. I'm current 200lbs at 5'2'' (yeah I'm short). Would love the support and motivation of a small group :)
woot woot thats 6 already !!!!!
to reply to bluemiss cutie I 2 get a sore lower back prob due to no muscles there haha. I use a ball and its heaps easier allowing me to do more reps. :-)
Once we get to 10 people is everyone happy to post weight and measurements and set dates etc, small goals at first maybe a 4 week goal ?
crap crap crap i just realised I have a wedding overseas on the 6th Sept.
Well now i guess i have my first goal,
k so i have 5 weeks. I have this awesome dress that I brought when I lost my weight the first time. To fit in to it nicely I would need to drop 6 kilos.
6 kilos in 5 weeks !!! 13 pounds in 5 weeks
What does everyone think, ????
Any suggestions on reaching this goal would b awesome !!!! as previously mentioned a have a clean eating plan which works wounders but so plain and boring i just cant stick to it anyomre looking for something new.
Olivia, 31, Kansas, started at 230, currently 167, hoping to be 150 soonish...... will see how I feel when I get there, but maybe more to lose after that.
I teach high school, so I work hard in the summer to get a jumpstart on the rest!
I workout almost every day -- running with my Sugar doggie. biking on a stationary about 10 miles a day, and the bf just got a Bowflex, so that is pretty cool.
I think my biggest issues are weekends when the bf is home, too much booze, and boredom eating in the evening (the bf is WOW addicted).
Hoping to meet lots of cool new girls!!! : D
EDIT TO REPLY TO PHAT -- you can do it. just have to get real serious!!!!!! water, fruit, veggie, WORKOUT!!!!!
thanks olivia77 and no ure not to late that make 7, 3 more to go :-)
I read through the posts and would like to become a part of your group. I set up my account today and just started learning how to use the site. I found out that I have to restrict my protein intake due to reduced kidney function, and I think it's wonderful how the "Analyse" tool counts everything for you.
I am 46 and am married with 3 kids. I also teach at a school. Making time for myself is very hard, but I realize that my health really depends on it. I'm following the Ultrametabolism book which has me cutting out common foods that people are allergic to. I've got terrible allergies but never tried to figure out what kind of foods not to eat. According to Dr. Hyman (author) ridding your diet of these things will make you feel better and lose weight.
Stats: 5'3" 145 pounds goal: 130 pounds
P.S. I am participating in my first 1/2 triathlon a week from today. Yaay!
I'm super excited! I know we're all going to do GREAT! Yay us ![]()
4 weeks sounds good for the first goal. Thanks for the input on the workout ball phat83.
Hey everyone! I hope it's okay if I join... not sure if you have reached your limit yet or not??? I'm going to be 21 in October and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be 20 pounds lighter than my current weight for my birthday! In the end I'd like to drop a total of 28 pounds to reach 125lbs. I've been trying diets like crazy for years now and nothing seems to work. I just discovered this website a few days ago, but I think there's something here that can really help me drop those pounds. I'm so excited! Let's get this party started!!!

I know that feeling of not wanting to weigh yourself; you feel so motivated, everything is going great but if the numbers haven't changed at all, it appears as though you haven't accomplished anything concrete and it feels like a major setback. On the bright side, there is always the chance that you could be positively surprised by what you find :).
You guys are going to be hearing a lot of praise for weight training from me, feel free to shove a virtual sock in my mouth once you've heard enough, but here goes: my ratio of cardio vs. weights is the opposite. I do maybe 3x15 minutes of intensive interval cardio per week and the rest of the time I work with weights for every muscle group.
Abs.. now we're talking ;). Exercise balls are very effective for your balance and they work nicely with crunches too, but there are other ab exercises you can do without a ball that might be easier on your back. One move I've been taught is lying down with my lower back pressed against the floor (keep your knees bent, only your toes touch the floor, your ankles pointed like a ballerina) and crunching only half-way up, so that only your upper back is lifted (hope that didn't sound too confusing).
I also love planks for abs, they require no movement so your back should be safe, given you keep your stomach sucked in. (http://www.fitnessvancouver.ca/anatomyassets/ exercise%20side%20plank.htm demonstrations of planks and side planks.)
funny u mention weights evelina when i lost my 13 kilos about 30 pounds, i did 3 - 4 weight resistance/ training sessions a week and nearly no cardio, maybe every now and then. :-) my body shape was so much nicer to.
I agree with the weight training sessions. They work wonders. !!!
Planks was one exercise my trainer would push me to do. hard at first gets easier the more u do it :-)
GOALS
k so if everone is happy to post or msg me starting weight we will start our 4 week challenge yayyyyyyy also include the goal u would like to achieve at the end of the first 4 weeks. Once i have everyones I will do up a chart and post then update with weigh ins weekly (ur choice tho)
