small weight loss group wanted (closed)

Quote  |  Reply

just read a topic on a weight loss group that sounds like an awesome idea. However i think they had gone over their limit so thought i would try and start my own group.

Previously I have lost 13 kilos (about 30) pounds through a personal trainer. It worked really well for me as someone was pushing and motivating me. Unfortunately I had to stop as I could no longer afford it, however still have food plan, food diaries and gym workout which I am happy to share. (no charge)

I started a 12 body challenge at work with my staff  (with the info from my trainer) and had 1 guy loose 23 kilos /50 pounds. He was very overweight tho and it came off very quickly the ladies averaged about 9 kilos. We did a weekly weigh in and I motivated them throghout. The unfortunate part about all this is that I had no one to motivate me as I was motivating them.

Due to being unmotivated I have gained another 6 kilos :-(

Not sure how to start a online group as I have only signed up today but would love to hear from any1 else wanting to join. :-)

My ultimate goals is loose 13 kilos 28.7 pounds, pls help !!!!

Starting weight: 125 lbs

Goal after 4 weeks: 120 lbs

I'm starting off slow but I suspect I'll be able to lose a little more than that. So my cautious target is 120 lbs and anything below that is just an added bonus.

One problem though, my gym has two locker rooms for women and the only one that has a scale is being renovated right now - I have to get creative with how I'm going to weigh myself. Maybe the locker room will be ready in four weeks.

Hi There!

Thanks for creating and keeping track of all on this post. I'm really looking forward to supporting each other. I did the same thing as you last year, except I did a WW meeting at work. It started off great and then everyone got busy and it kind of fell apart. I've been trying to lose the last 15 pounds for years and want to get there so bad. I'm close to "the change" (yeah, I'm old!) and if I don't lose the weight soon I know it will get even worse...

Here is my goal for the next 4 weeks. To lose one pound a week, so that would make me 141. Also someone said how great weight resistance training is. I'm setting a goal to step that up to 3 times a week.

TTFN

I am definitely going to start doing the plank!! thanks for the tips :]

my current weight is 120lbs and I'm hoping to get to 115lbs :]  I gained 30 pounds my first year of college due to thinking that I would "stay skinny forever" ... boy was I up for a surprise!!!! Anyway, I've lost 17 pounds since the end of May :] slowly but surely!

Starting Weight :   167
Goal Weight after 4 weeks:   160

WE CAN DO IT!!!   ( ;

Starting weight: 144

Goal after 4 weeks: 140

Hahaha, I know that is such a small goal but at work there are so many temptations (homemade treats) and I feel bad telling people no there. I am fine telling my family no, its not a big deal to them they are use to it by now. Its going to be a challenge for me to just get back in the habit of working out again. I have not done hardly any cardio while loosing the first 40 pounds though! Its all been working out with weights. An occasional 2 mile walk but nothing crazy like power walking or running, just weights for 30 minutes every other day. Time to get my act together and keep pushing even if I feel tired at the end of the day. We can do this! It helps so much when you have people to support you and give you ideas too!

My diet is just whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, and lots of protein! I never exclude a food group. I include potatoes- carbs, and the occasional sweet. Oh yeah! I didn't really tell you guys about myself. I'm 25, I have a boyfriend in the Marines, I have a wonderful dog and I work with mentally and physically handicapped people.

I used to do the same line of work, lillysmom  ( :  it;s great.  now I work with 15-17 year olds, so similar?  (lol)

I think if I was at 140, my goals would me smaller too.   LUCKY!

I am happy to see this post taking off!

I started out at 185 but i said 183 to people Lol, gotta shave it off a little bit when you are starting out lol. I've been counting since feb or march its been so long I can't really remember and I was doing so well. Then Joe came in for a week and I started my new job that same week. Plus, I must admit I am more a second shift person and I am working day shift right now and its killing me. Up by 4:45am arrive at work 6:30am, get home at 4pm, 5pm go take care of my sisters dogs, get back home and make dinner 7-8pm and finally go to bed around 9-10pm lol. Now I would love to take those dogs for a walk but you know what the little one just gives up after 1/2 a mile and I have to either drag him which is mean or carry his heavy butt while trying to walk the 96lb monster with the other hand.

I would take em in shifts!    why not?   figure out a short loop for the little guy and then jog a little with the big one?

just a thought.   I LOVE my doggie.   She is the main reason I got started running in the first place!

Current weight: 153.5

Goal weight in 4 weeks: 147

I'm a college student and this year has been tough!  I gained 15 pounds since last summer and have been up/down anywhere from 148 - 156 in the last 3 months... This time that number on the scale is going down and STAYING down!  Good luck to everyone!

Great info on the ab workouts. I bought a ball today and just done some beginner stuff...it's a lot harder than I thought it would be lol. Thats good though. The burn means it's working Laughing

So I mustered up the courage to weigh myself this morning. I've lost 6lbs since starting!!! Whoop whoop!! What a relief that was.

Starting Weight: 176.6

Goal weight in 4 weeks: 168

I need suggestions on veggies. I've been eating steamed broccoli, yellow sqaush, zuccihni, baby carrots, and bell peppers (all mixed together) for the last two weeks. I gotta be honest...just thinking about eating it again kinda makes me wanna gag. I need to shake it up a bit ya know. Any suggestions would be great?

Thanks ladies!!

I hope no one minds but I'm adding everyone in the group to my friends list.

Do you like mushrooms? Grilled mushrooms are awesome! I burnt myself out on steamed broccoli, I've eaten it for dinner for months and months! Now I can't bring myself to do it anymore unless its in something with a sauce like stir fry. I must admit I have been eating canned veggies Surprised Lol, I have a garden and I grow veggies but I don't like most of them. I'm a confusing woman hahaha. My lettuce is really good though. But I planted the dreaded broccoli too! And my tomatoes aren't growing well for some reason, my beans haven't turnt into pods so I just eat canned ones. I hate frozen green beans I think they taste funny. Sorry I just went off track.

So maybe salads with low fat or fat free dressing, stir fry, or grilled mushrooms? Bake a yam like a baked potato, thats really good or you could make baked sweet potato fries. I don't really know how to make squash any other way than frying it. lol, that is a problem I have with squash. Hope these ideas help you out some, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Great suggestions! I'll definitely try the yams and sweet potatoe fries. I love mushrooms but I don't know how to prepare fresh ones. I've always eaten canned :(

I steam the sqaush and other veggies in a Ziploc steamer bag with some Mrs. Dash seasoning. Super quick and easy. Those bags are really handy.

Thanks for the great ideas!

Ok the whole table thing is just not working on this site, when i enter the table it goes all out of alignment and messed up. So I entered it manually and it still wouldn't work. YellArgh frustrating !!!

I have all the information set up on a table, does anyone have any suggestions on how to enter a table on this site.

The only other way to do it is to email everyone a table. If so message me email addresses and i will forward it to you.

This sounds like a perfect group for me if you can squeeze me in. I heard about this site from an article on CNN. I looked it up and realized I have never counted my calories. Even when I was at my best and working out like a crazy person. My goal is to drop 10 to 12 pounds. Does not seem like much but I'm killing myself just to get rid of the secretarial spread I have developed within the passed year. I started counting on July 19th and would really appreciate the exchange of information and motivation Smile  My weight on the July 19th was 134.5 and to be truthful I was not happy when I looked down because I have been do a lot of cardio for the passed month before I stubbled across this site. So I haven't weighed myself since. I will weigh myself in the morning and post it. So I will say that my:

Start Weight: 134

4 Week Goal:  5 lbs.

Let me know when we start...I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Thanks!

Hi Phat83,

Instead of the table can you type in in a column format? (The tab key works.)

Maybe we could do that and also have the great table you made sent to us. My address is ckuhfahl@loudoun.gov.

Thanks!Tongue out

Good morning Phat83,

Sure, forward your plan and I'll look it over. I will tell you this, that I do not believe in

completely eliminating carbs. One does not need to sit down and gobble down a plate on pasta loaded with meat sauce after running for an hour. I eat pretty clean, however I am really concentrating on portion control, learning about the calories of the foods I eat and exercising. That is the key, EXERCISE!!!!! I have a treadmill in my garage and I have started a program that includes running, speed walking and resistance incline walking. I wish I could spin again but with work and a three year old, I 'll stick to the treadmill for now. This morning I stepped on the scale for the first time since the 19th of July and it read 131.5 lbs. but I'm sure if get back on it this evening it will be read 134 lbs.. So I'm sticking with the start weight I wrote last night.

I need to get back to work now. Chat with you all later Smile

is the workout/shred program really long?  could you just paste it here for all of us?  if iti s super long, my emails are on my profile.  I would like to see what a GET RIPPED workout looks like.  ( :

I agree --- working out rocks, tracy and for me, is the difference between feeling bad about me and feeling good some days...
