small weight loss group wanted (closed)
just read a topic on a weight loss group that sounds like an awesome idea. However i think they had gone over their limit so thought i would try and start my own group.
Previously I have lost 13 kilos (about 30) pounds through a personal trainer. It worked really well for me as someone was pushing and motivating me. Unfortunately I had to stop as I could no longer afford it, however still have food plan, food diaries and gym workout which I am happy to share. (no charge)
I started a 12 body challenge at work with my staff (with the info from my trainer) and had 1 guy loose 23 kilos /50 pounds. He was very overweight tho and it came off very quickly the ladies averaged about 9 kilos. We did a weekly weigh in and I motivated them throghout. The unfortunate part about all this is that I had no one to motivate me as I was motivating them.
Due to being unmotivated I have gained another 6 kilos :-(
Not sure how to start a online group as I have only signed up today but would love to hear from any1 else wanting to join. :-)
My ultimate goals is loose 13 kilos 28.7 pounds, pls help !!!!
It was me. I'm so glad it's working for you! I've been doing this on and off for several years and I've never broken down and binged on the chocolate. I think that allowing yourself some every day (if you want) makes a huge difference somehow.
Take care!
Hello,
I'm interested in hearing about your "shredding" plan. I did my first triathlon and for some reason my weight shot up 5 pounds even though I ate less than the calories I burned. I'm kinda bummed and need to do something for just a few days to get the scale moving down again.
Thanks,
Caroline
Hey girls! So I'm curious to see what your opinions about the weight watchers program is. My roomie is currently on weight watchers and in 3 months has lost 28 pounds. She absolutely loves it and wants me to join so we can support each other. I am going to a support meeting tomorrow to see what it's all about... any thoughts one way or another? Has anyone been and know how it all works? My main concern is that say I'm on it for a few months to a year and reach my goal weight, once I leave the program will I gain all the weight back?
Hope everyone's doing well!
I'm home from college for 2 weeks and for some reason, I find it easy to binge when I'm home. I ate SO much yesterday... I need to get back on track ASAP... and i need to stay away from the PB!
kaleighlynn- one of my friends did ww, but she said it was kinda expensive
I just wanted to check in, so last night was my first night on 2nd shift and I loved it! I worked with some really nice people and the people that I took care of weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. I feel really bad for the one guy though.
Next week will be my last week of day light and then it should be smooth sailing from then on. I actually got to make myself a healthy dinner yesterday to eat at work and got things accomplished around the house before I left.
whatever07- don't worry too much about eating a lot one day because if you don't eat as much the next day it will play with your metabolism and might even help speed it up a little, kinda like what zig zagging does. Just try to get some healthy snacks and stuff in the house so when you do want to eat its fruits and veggies.
lillysmominpa - thanks for the re-assurance that one day wont mess up everything :] hopefully it helped my metabolism, heh ;)
how often do you guys work out?? just wondering, because for about a month I've been doing about an hour a day- but lately i've been doing less :/
Whatever07 - Boy do I know that feeling! When I go home my mom wants to cook all my favorite foods and friends want to go to lunch or coffee or dessert... it's soooo easy to binge and so very hard to stay on track. Thankfully (or not, depending on which way you look at it), I live about 6 hours away from home and only get to go home about once a quarter for a short weekend. All I've got to say is GOOD LUCK! Stay strong and document everything you eat, it makes you realize where you're at through the day. To answer your question: I usually go for a run at least 4 days a week, bike to school two days a week and then try to get in to the gym for weights 2-3 times/week. Oh and thanks for the WW info, my roomie says it's about $10/week... I don't know, I'm going to have to think about it. Have fun at home!
Honestly, I haven't had a real work out since July 5th! Every now and then I will walk a mile at work but thats about it. So to make up for the lack of exercise I try to eat between 1,200 and 1,300 calories. At work I do a lot of lifting/pulling/ rolling/moving of people who are wheel chair bound though. Some little tricks to burn some extra calories I use is park far away from where ever I am going like Wal-Mart or the store, dance around while doing house work, even if I can carry everything I bought at the store I make 2 trips to the car to carry in the groceries. I do things like that and I go up and down the stairs a lot at my house. Every little bit counts, so I try to get lots of little bits. I can't wait to be steady 2nd shift so I can start lifting again though, I really miss it.
Made good choices last night, so I am proud of that. We went bowling. Usually that means beer and nachos, but I was good --- drank water, no nachos, even when J went to Wendy's afterwards, I got a chili (330 cals) and a tiny Frostie (200 cals). Made my own salad and baked potato. Felt good and smart and healthy. ( : YAY
Is anyone still reading this one?
Reading the posts??? I am, but I was kinda wondering where everyone else is too... Maybe we can all check in if we're still on?
Oh, and CONGRATS on last night! sounds like you did very well :) Keep it up!
thanks. it;s hard to make good choices there because for 2 years, every single time I went there, I drank and got nachos. =P now I just come prepared to be better. but it's tough!
hey everyone,
so sorry havnt postd been a crazy 2 weeks.
but things are getting sorted start my new job tommorrow so will be back in a routine and can post more.
how is everyone going with the weightloss. From the posts sounds as though we all had a tough week last week but are back on track now. yay
has anyone done a weigh in?? Im down bout 2 pounds not much but it will get better. what about your selves. ?
olivia77 nice work on the meal at wendys. i agree though it is tough taking prepared meals when everyone else is eating takeout.
Kaleighlynn weight watchers is suppose to be good. i have had many freinds who have done weight watchers. I tried it however it did not work for me. As I didnt stick to the points. My old trainer on the other hand is against it, as you still eat junk food. (friends of mine would go to KFC and eat whatever they wanted as long as it was in their point range). They did loose the weight however, quickly gained the weight back. When they got to their goal weight they continued to eat KFC without the point restriction and bam weight back on and more.
When i tried to stick to my point range i was sooooo hungry. But back then i didnt know much about eating protein which helps you to stay fuller longer. If you have strong will power give it ago. Most diets work its more abount finding a diet that you can stick to and what fits in with you lifestyle.
Ckuhfahl i can email you the shredding plan if u like. Its for 7 days hard but works wounders especially if its fluid retention. Could your 5 pound weight gane be due to muscle mass?
hope everyone is getting the results they deserve :-)
I still read this post everyday or nearly everyday. Last weekend I went camping so I wasn't near a computer. But I don't always post stuff even though I read things. lol, I dunno why I just don't want to see like a jerk since I have already reached my goal of 140 and am actually down to 138 now. I have no idea how it happened, I didn't count the entire time I was camping and I ate whatever I wanted, thats why I don't think its bad to cheat now and then and give yourself a break. Probably stress did it though, I dunno. But if anyone needs help with their diet and what they are eating or suggestions I can help out. I still want to be in the group though, please don't kick me out. I have more weight to lose! I hate being short! I can't wait to see the Calculator on here say I'm not slightly over weight anymore.
Phat83 - Congrats on the new job! Thanks for the info about WW... I went to a meeting with my roomie and part of me wanted to laugh at these women as they raised their hands to offer ideas about what encourages them through the week in exchange for a "gold star" sticker. But another part of me thought it was really neat that they had each other to hold themselves accountable and pick them back up... I don't know if I'm going to join yet, finances are kinda tight right now so it depends on what happens with that.
Lilysmominpa - Congrats on your weight loss!!! Of course we're not going to kick you out :) Good luck in losing your last few pounds!
Okay well I am determined to do really well this week. I binged the last few days as it's that time of the month :( I'm going to the gym later today but I'm dreading getting on that scale!!! I can't seem to get over this habit of binging the last few weeks. I'll do really well for about 4-5 days and then have 2-3 days of binging. I don't necessarily eat junk food, just lots of food. Like Friday, I ate a good breakfast, and lunch and then in the afternoon it got out of control! I couldn't stop eating... popcorn, fruits, a smoothie that I made, I ate sooo much and the problem was that it was all halfway ok if I had eaten just that or in small amounts... my way of justification was that it was healthy foods and if I was craving it I probably needed it. Anyway, I'm done with all that and I'm determined to lose my 2 pounds this week. I'm going to go to the gym at least 3 days this week, jog outside at least 3 days this week and tonight I'm going to hike up a local mountain with a couple friends and we're going to watch that meteor shower that's supposed to be happening really early tomorrow morning. Should be fun :p Any support or encouragement throughout the week would be greatly appreciated... Thanks! Good luck to you girls!!!
kaleighlynn -- ~~~support and encouragement vibes~~~ : D How is your week going?
I am doing well with my return to work/school this Monday. So far, I am working out in the morning -- no problem, packing and eating my healthy lunches and snacks, and somehow even getting in enough water to be happy too.
Wish me luck. Tonight is our weekly, obligatory "dinner with his parents." It is almost easier to eat out than it is to guesstimate her cooking!
oh -- and phat? I am long since over the weird looks, ribbing, and all out heckling I sometimes get for bringing my own food. Yesterday they offered Subway 10 footers, chips, and all kind of mayo salads. ew. Oh and doughnuts. Today -- hamburgers, chips, repeat. YUCK --- I figure until I figure out how not to be fat, it is a bad habit to get into thinking "just this once won;t hurt......" With me, just once becomes every day again. I refuse. : D
Olivia - THANKS for the encouragement vibes!
This week has started out ok... I haven't binged in two days (small steps, that's all that matters!)... I posted a bunch of ridiculous quotes throughout my kitchen. On my cupboards, in the fridge, in the plate pantry... you get the point! My roomies laugh, but I think it's going to work. It's hard to get past the large note posted on the cupboard saying "Nothing tastes good as thin feels" or on the peanut butter jar that reminds me that "it takes a ten minute run to burn off one tablespoon"... :) Yesterday I was at 1260cal (target of 1300) and today so far I've only had about 650 cal. I'm off to the gym in a bit, so, fingers crossed this continues into the week!
Sounds like you're doing well with your eating... Keep up the good work! Good luck tonigh!
I like the note idea. I do that sometimes on trigger foods.... I also have a before and after pic on the fridge.
Keep up the good work!!!!!
oh my gosh u gals are doing awesome. !!!!!!!! ![]()
The exercise i have been reading on the last few posts have been, well only one word "wow". Makes me kick myself in the ass again, I havent been to the gym in like 3 weeks. But Im going to get there. lol...
im starting up bootcamps again this saturday so muscles will be sore again. :-) and am looking forward to it.
thanks for the congrats bout the job. been very full on and information overload.
what is everyones idea on coffee, some diets say your aloud 1 cup a day yet som say its as bad as alcohol. ?? any thoughts
ladies go hard for this week, cant wait to here your successes at the end of the week.
phat83 - Good luck at bootcamp! I've actually been reading a lot about coffee lately because I feel like I just HAVE to have a cup before I'm fully awake most mornings... According to what I've read it's ok to have 1-2 cups/day. It actually boosts your metabolism by about 8%! It also has a lot of and antioxidents if you drink it within the first hour it's brewed. If you need more caffeine than that, I've read that drinking brewed green tea will also help with the metabolism (increasing it by about 12%) as well as containing a LOT minerals of antioxidents. Hope that helped :)
Good luck everyone!
Hi girls and sorry I haven't been around in ages! I went to Barcelona and I have a big test coming up, so I haven't had any extra time on my hands. The good news is I'm down to 123 lbs, which is how much I weighed immediately after an hour of weight training and after a vacation of sitting on planes, eating salty olives, drinking carbonated beverages and generally being bloated from the humid, hot air. So it's safe to say I've lost quite a bit if the scale shows 123 lbs even with all the water I must be retaining.
I can't wait to catch up with how everyone's doing, I gotta try to get around more often.
