Smart choices for pizza?

Quote  |  Reply
Does anyone out there have some smart suggestions for pizza? I've been craving it for a couple of days, but don't want to break the bank by eating one. Suggestions?

I have tried just about all of them- and I prefer the South Beach. The smart ones are OK too (if I remember right) but I like S/B delux pizza.
lean cuisines pizzas are pretty tasty if you want something quick. or you could make your own, i use josephs low carb pitas (some people use wraps/flat breads) as a crust, they only have 60 cals. one of the tomato sauce brands makes a pizza sauce that is 30 cals per 1/4 cup. throw on some low fat cheese and healthy toppings you like and you can make your own pizza!

Papa Murphy's Delite Pizza--yummy and low cal and fat.
A lot of pizza places offer a light pizza.  Usually it is wheat/thin crust with about half amount of cheese, lots of veggies, and only ham for meat.  The place I get it from is around 450 calories for a 7 inch.  I put a couple pieces of turkey pepperoni and red pepper on it for more kick.
I'm not 100% sure, but I read that Dominos cheese/pepperoni thin crust is 160 cal per slice.  Last time I got it I had green peppers instead of the pepperoni to be a bit healthier, and then thin crust seemed a LOT less greasy.  I can't remember the website, but if you search it on google I'm sure you'll find it.
I made personal pizza's from 10" flour tortillas.  Just bake at 425 for 10 minutes on a cookie sheet.  Put anything you like on them.  My kids loved them as well.
You can always order a pizza with half the cheese and twice the veggies... you still shouldn't go overboard, but you'll save some calories and fat and add some fiber.

Pizza dough is not difficult to make. Cookinglight.com has some good recipes if you want to go that route. Then you can control exactly what you put into it.
hmm...Well, I like the Lean Cusine Vegetable Roasted Pizza, but making your own is really good as well. Fat free shredded mozarella cheese, a La Tortilla Factory toasted crust, and no sodium tomata paste. ^^;;
If you want to order a pizza, get thin crust. As for microwave stuff, Lean Cuisine pizzas are very good.
i agree w/ the south beach suggestion.  the crust is kind of sweet in a weird way, but overall they're good.  i like the chicken/vegetable one.  also, the Ultra Lean Pockets pizza flavor isn't too bad.  200 cal, 20-something grams of protein.  i'll warn you, there's a lot of empty space in that damn pocket, but it'll satisfy a pizza fix (and you could probably stuff extra stuff in the pocket...fat free cheese? veggies?)
i like the amy's roasted veggie pizza.  one frozen pizza is 3 servings, so a lot of times i'll buy one, heat it up, cut it into thirds, stick 2 servings back in the fridge, and eat just one with a good salad.  if i do this regularly enough, i seldom have crazy pizza cravings.
Califonia Pizza Kitchen White pizza! Super thin crust and very yummy! one pizza is 3 servings so make sure you have others there to share with you or you will be temped to eat the whole thing. Add some steamed veggies as a side and you have a perfect meal!
Not sure if it's only in Canada, but President's Choice Blue Label pizzas are great.  They come on whole wheat thin crust, and are full of fibre.
My favorite frozen single-serve pizza is the Smart Ones brand.  Lean cuisine and South Beach Diet also make them, but I think the Smart Ones taste the best.  Make sure to nuke it with the silver disc though :)

I love pizza.  I usually get a medium, thin-crust, veggie lovers from pizza hut.  I think its around 150 a slice.  Two slices fills me up so around 300 calories for dinner is pretty good.  Whatever you do don't order the breadsticks.  they are deadly.
You should try making your own. If you look on any recipe sites there will be easy, quick base recipes. Top it with lots of veggies and a bit of olive oil ... and there you go ... cheap, healthyish and veerrrryyyy tasty.
Pizzafree.com!!!!!! Fat free, 7", DELICIOUS pizza. I ordered them last week and had my first one last night. It's not Domino's, but it does the trick! Only 250 calories!
I second the PC Blue Label pizzas. Heck, they are only 500 cals for the whole pie (it's not that big, but full of fiber and filling - I can't even eat a whole one!) and they don't taste like "diet" food - just delicious.

Also the PC pita pizza, greek-style. More calorific but YUM!!! - half of it is 420 cals and makes me feel I've died and gone to heaven.

I also tried McCain International's greek pizza and it was pretty good too.

Frozen pizza is a staple of my diet now. :)
