Smart Idea at the time.........NOT!!

Quote  |  Reply

So I've been having this little problem the past few months with yuk gathering on my tongue Undecided  which in turn was causing....yes you guessed it bad breath! I found that it's the skimmed milk in my tea that is causing it for what ever reason? Anyway I can't give up my cuppa totally so I cut it down to just in the morning, before I brush my teeth that way I have fresh breath all day. Smile

This morning still half asleep, fuzzy brained and bleary eyed and on my second cup I could feel my mouth starting to get yuk......tut I'm sick of this so in my moment of wisdom (brain not working!) I thought I know what'll get rid of it.......

I'll make up a paste of Salt and lime juice, the salt will act as an cleaning abrasive and the acid in the lime juice will kill any bacteria....sounded good to me?!

SurprisedYell   ble ble ble awe awe ble "STUPID WOMEN, STUPID, STUPID WOMEN!!

Look at my tongue Tongue out it's in tatters and I think it's stripped the enamel off my teeth......awe gees!!

Anyone else had any hair brained Ideas that have gone badly wrong?

Sorry you had this experience.  I am one of those weirdos who brushes her tongue when I brush my teeth.

The only thing I have done lately is to rearrange my furniture without any help.  Man, the china cabinet and the computer desk are HEAVY!!!  I felt the result of that for days!  Doh!  When I rearrange my bedroom, I'm going to have help!

I'm sure I've had many a foible, I just haven't had my coffee yet, so I can't think of anything else other than the moving of the furniture.

Okay, salt and lime should never be mixed together without vodka. ;)  Just for future reference.

And my mis-hap, I thought I could make the hole in the wall slightly bigger to get the cable through by myself.  I really could've, despite the fact we didn't have a drill bit large enough.  I'm am master of making holes bigger without the proper tools, it just takes longer.  Well, in newer homes at least.  Ones that aren't made of plaster and strips of wood.  My drill bit got lodged, snapped off, made the hole a little too big trying to get the remainder of the drill bit out, and eventually surrendered.  I had to explain to Alex what I tried to do, what I actually did do, and what he's going to have to do.

Had I just told him in the first place I would've had internet in my work room about two hours earlier. :|

nah that's tequila

ann - I get that problem too with various foods, bread and candy especially. I also brush my tongue and the dentist gave me a tongue scraper (works way better). If it's during the day I chew gum/eat dents.

as for me I can't think of anything right now, just woke up :P

I think you just gave me a good natural kitchen cleaner recipe.

Don't forget your water - I find for me it makes all the difference with oral health after brushing, flossing etc.  It also helps if you have a cup of water just after your coffee.

Laughing still tasting salt/lime 1ltr of water later Yell

Yeah I don't know why it's happening and it's only milk that does it? I brush my teeth/tongue 3 times a day with non alcoholic mouthwash, this only started a few months ago so something in my chemistry must have changed?

steph.....let me know if it works as a kitchen cleaner, it did work in my mouth, but oh boy the taste.....

Salt and vodka tastes better than salt and tequila.

Why would you ruin either one of those beverages with training wheels.

They make tounge scrapers!  And there's a new toothbrush out there with one on the back.  I brush my tounge everytime I brush my teeth too.  Just cause your teeth are clean doesn't mean the germs wont move from tounge and cheeks to teeth.

Did you change the brand of tea at all?  Tea in general coats my tounge (iced green tea is doing it right now).   No need to give it up... but that's great that you only have to worry about it in the morning.  I'm at work now drinking tea and will have to go brush as soon as its gone!    You're not alone!

oh milk makes me think my whole mouth is coated in nastiness-- ever since i was child, hot chocolate too!

(unless I add vodka, CD has it right! vodka goes with everything! tho... tequila is more of a salty type alcohol to begin with, but good tequila should taste a bit salty on its own....)

if it happens after you drink anything with milk (for me, ice cream too) swish with plain water or salt water.  either should work fairly well (use warm water despite the ugh warm water feeling, the salt dissolves better in warm water and plain warm water just feels more effective for dissolving the uck on the teeth)

You always think it's only yourself that suffers from things like this, I'm pleased to see I'm not  Smile

Thank you for the advice.

For proper oral health you should brush your tonge- a tonge scraper is the best.  I would try a mixture of baking soda and a little hyrdogen peroxide- dip our brush in the hp and then the soda- even those pre brush whitening rinses are hydrogen peroxide.

You may also want to try biotene its a mouthwash recommended for persons with mouthsores and also after tongue piercing
