i'm going to try and start my breakfast off with a healthy smoothie.

so far the ingrediants i have gathered are:

half a banana,1/2 of an apple,  1/4 of a necturine with about 1 cup of ice.

would i need something liquid-like milk or juice?

or would it turn out just fine like that?

if i do need a liquid-any VERY LOW CALORIE suggestions? would water work?

thanks.

i would think you would definately need a liquid, otherwise it will either not blend or if you have an AMAZING blender it will be like icecream almost. what about almond milk? i think regular is like 40 calories a cup.

would the magicbullet be able to do it?

cause thats what i use

i would guesss that it would make more of an icecreamy kind of thing without any liquid.

"would the magicbullet be able to do it?"

In my experience with my Bullet, no, you must have some liquid in there.  With those ingredients, it will just bind up and produce big hunks of ice mixed with some pulverized ice right near the blades and will not blend together at all.  You can easily burn your motor up and ruin your Bullet if you try to force it.  You can use any liquid you want, but you really must use it if you want a smoothie and not a snow cone.  ;-)  Using the Bullet, you can add liquid slowly and check it each time, if you want to use as little as possible to save cals, or if you want an extra thick smoothie, and you will be able to tell instantly when you've added enough liquid, because it just will immediately come together for you.  You can hear it and see it when this happens.

hi,

I make my smoothies with fruit, ice, and vanilla yogurt. although I looked at the sugar content in yogurt the low fat yogurt and I'm not sure that is the best choice now. I've actually put tofu in smoothies for a consistency. I know it's sounds gross. but you can taste it.

I just use about 6 ounces of skim milk, with a your fruit of choice, 1/3 cup of crushed ice (usually about 3-5 pieces of ice) and a tablespoon of vanilla. Blend that sucker until there is no tomorrow and you have about 100-120 calories.

I usually have one or two of those a day, and it really fills you up and bumps the energy up a couple notches.

I love smoothies.  I'll add all sorts of fruits to mine.  I do a bunch of different liquids: yogurt, fat free milk, soy milk (chocolate soy milk sometimes), coffee, OJ, apple juice, etc.  It really depends what you want to add to it.  My favorite lately is doing coffee yogurt with banana.  So yummy!!

Yes you need some liquid and the ice makes them watery tasting.  Here is how I make smoothies.  This makes 3 to 4 servings.

In a blender or smoothie maker place about 16 oz of liquid - orange juice or pineapple juice (light kind works fine) with a couple of ounces of fat free milk to total about 16 ounces.  Add about 1 1/2 cups of any kind of frozen fruit (peaches and strawberries are very good, a few blueberries are nice too).  Add 1 banana, a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a dash of nutmeg.  Add 3 or 4 Equal or Splenda packets to sweeten it up and blend.  This is a great way to get picky kids to eat fruit because it looks like a milkshake.

Yes, with the magic bullet you'll need some liquid. Or else all your fruits will get stuck to the side.

I love adding milk to my smoothies. I avoid juices because its mainly sugar.

My magic bullet is not that great for grinding up ice though. I always find large chunks left at the bottom. Does this happen to anyone else as well? Any ideas??

My magic bullet can't even blend up a frozen banana.... it gets stuck at the side :\
