Would it be possible to make a smoothie, freeze it and drink it the next day without it getting old and gross?

I don't know about thawing it, but I make fruit smoothies with yogurt and a bit of milk, freeze the leftovers in small cups with plastic spoons, and have yummy popsicles the next day.

It might depend a lot on your ingredients.  Milk-based ingredients tend to separate and clump when frozen and thawed.  If it doesn't contain milk or yogurt, then it will probably do better.  An orange juice smoothie with strawberries and banana would probably do well.  Try it and see.  It might help to put plastic wrap on top, but if it's only going to be in the freezer for a day it probably isn't necessary.
