Hi everyone,
I really love smoothies in the morning, they are very yummy and filling. I was just currious to see what different conbinations I could be making.
For example this is what I have put it my smoothie this morning:
- 2 tbs of cottage cheese
- 1 pear
- 1 nectarine
- 1/2 cup of frozen berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries & blackberries)
- 1 tbs of flax seed oil
- 1/4 cup of water
This may sound gross to some people, but it was actually really good. I am willing to try different concoctions so let me see what you've got! :)
Thanks!
Mmm I love smoothies too! My mom got me into them.
Anyway, today I had...
- 1/3 cup soymilk
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup frozen papaya
- 1 tablespoon honey
I've never made a smoothie believe it or not...lol. Lots of protein shakes but it's not the same. They both sound good though. Do you use a blender? I don't have one but I have a wand blender and a food processor....can I use either of them?
As part of my breakfast, sometimes I'll make a sort of smoothie/soup. I blend 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 banana (sliced) and 3-4 frozen whole strawberries. It's really good!
Here are some more smoothie recipes I like:
Peanut Butter-Banana Smoothie
Blend the following: 4-6 oz vanilla yogurt, 2 TB peanut butter and a small sliced up banana
Strawberry-Vanilla Smoothie
Blend: 4 oz vanilla activia yogurt, frozen strawberries, splash of skim milk and wheat germ (to taste)...this one's good for digestive health
High-Protein Smoothie
Blend the following: 1/2 c cottage cheese, 1 scoop protein powder, frozen fruit, milk
The key is really to experiment with the portions, find what tastes best to you. Personally, I like thicker smoothies, but some prefer a thinner consistency.
Green smoothies are awesome. You get so many nutrients and its super low cal. I normally blend 2 huge handfuls of spinach with water. Then i will add a frozen banana and then frozen berries. You cant even taste the spinach. It may sound gross but its really not. I have noticed a lot of great benefits since drinking them everyday
My two most recent
Banana Peach
1 cup skim milk
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 large banana, cut up
1 peach, cut up
6 ice cubes
Run the blender on ice crush if you have that setting, until the ice is broken up. Then run on puree for at least one minute. Make sure the fruits and cottage cheese are perfectly smooth.
Chocolate Peanut Butter
2 tbs peanut butter
1/2 cup room temperature diet cream soda
1 1/2 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
Whiz this on puree until perfectly smooth.
Add 8 oz skim milk and 6 ice cubes
Crush the ice, then puree until perfectly smooth. You can add yogurt or cottage cheese too if you need more protein. The diet soda provides just enough sweetness, but if you need more, sweeten to taste.
I've never thought to add pears!! Now I need to buy pears... I want to make a pear smoothie. *drool*
I just wish my blender could handle larger fruits (I have to cut everything up tiny first). I need a real blender.
That chocolate/PB smoothie sounds so yummy too.
We need a drool smilie.

I use a hand blender now because my regular blender was SO hard to clean. I'm sure a food processor would work fine. Whatever you use, just make a smoothie ASAP!
My Dad calls these my Soy Smoothies.
I make them in very large sizes, so they last me as breakfast & a snack until lunch when I go to school.
1 cup frozen mango
1/2 a Kiwi
1/2 Strawberries
1 banana
1 cup Vanilla Soymilk
1/2 OJ
Blend and Drink.
Or, for added protein, you can throw some Silken Tofu in there.
you can really use any fruit, Whatever you have.
Everyone so far has loved them
