Snack Ideas
I reaaally need some awesome snack ideas!
Just then I had a pretty yummy one, which was:
1 piece of whole-wheat grainy bread with a very generous amount of peanut butter also with half of a massive banana and honey on top :D And then I ate the other half of the banana on it's own. (I seriously think that banana was equal to two haha). Oh and a glass of milk :)
Man, it was good.
So has any one got any good snack ideas? I would prefer crazy ones with odd but awesome tasting combinations hehe.
Try the same wholewheat grainy bread... then mash up an avocado with a little black pepper and EVOO and spread that on. Top with some slices of Brie cheese and some crisply grilled bacon to finish .. Very energy-dense and tastes superb.
bread - mashed banana on top + cheese. :)
crumpets with topping of your choose chese is nice
cinamon bagels
teacakes , scones and jam fruit cake
ww toast with spread cheese
milkshake made with fresh banaor nutella na and icecream
banana sarny
crackers and chese
cereals are good i like weetabix and oatmeal museli
100g of greek yogurt
30g chopped mixed nuts
1 tsp of honey
I sometimes have this for breakfast too!
Cottage cheese mixed with crunchy PB (or nuts of choice!) and chopped dried figs.
Mix of dried fruits (I like figs, apricots and mango) dipped in almond butter
Dried fruits dipped in yoghurt
Hot chocolate made with instant sachet and milk and topped with mini marshmallows and squirty cream
Celery and carrots chopped up and eaten with chunks of cheese
Oatcakes spread with tahini and marmite
Peanut butter and cheese on toast - melty and delish!
Branflakes, cottage cheese, honey - mixed together
Instant noodles with some olive oil stirred in
A baggie of homemade trail mix - I like cereal, nuts, dried fruits and some form of chocolate chip/ m & m... served with a glass of icy cold milk
How about banana bread or banana muffins? You could add walnuts and/or chocolate chips for added deliciousness (and calories), too. You can eat with PB, almond butter, etc.
Trail mix is awesome, since there are so many varieties - any nuts, dried fruit, pretzels, cereal, choc chips, etc.
I also second avocado on toast, yum.
A weird-but-good food combination is fruit and cheese - try toast with apple slices and melted sharp cheddar, or toast spread with goat cheese, sliced figs/ fig jam, and drizzled with honey.
I've heard that peanut butter and cheese sandwiches are delicious, but never been brave enough to try it.

you want unusual but dense foods? hmm...
- greek yogurt with chili powder and chocolate? or chili powder and honey... mango might taste good with that. awesome protein!
- sharp cheddar and apple slices on a waffle.
- pretzels and ice cream. yum. or french fries and ice cream! (though better to make your own healthy fries.)
- fruit dipped in sour cream.
- sushi dipped in ranch dressing.
- turkey sandwich with jelly.
- peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with pickles.
pizza! you can buy pre-made crusts, make your own, or do this on a tortilla, bagel, or english muffing.
- fruit pizza: cream cheese + fresh fruit + cinnamon sugar/chocolate syrup/nuts/coconut/whatever.
- breakfast pizza: tomato sauce + cheese + veggies + breakfast meat + eggs.
- mexican pizza: refried beans + cheese + fritos + avocado + black olives + tomatoes or salsa + sour cream.
yuuuum! there's some very weird food combos out there. :)

Reminds me of when I was pregnant with my first son - my craving was cheese and lemon curd sandwiches!!

Some of these sound so strange but oddly delicious haha
It's school holidays where I am at the moment so I have plenty of spare time to experiment with all these snack ideas.
PB + cheese on toast is first on the list!

Not sure how exciting my ideas are, but they got the job done:
- trail mix. Get creative & make your own! Some things to mix & match: raisins, slivered almonds, cocoa almonds (soooo good! the brand is emerald i think), chocolate chips, peanuts, assorted dried fruit (there's so many now: dried apples, strawberries, pineapple, dates, prunes, apricots, etc), pretzels, cereal, candy/m&ms, anything really!
- yogurt parfaits. Pick your favorite yogurt (i like greek yogurt for the extra protein) and stir in your favorite add-ins: fruit (fresh or dried), cereal, granola, oats, nuts, trail mix, wheat germ, etc
- smoothies. I like blending yogurt, milk, frozen fruit, etc. If you need extra calories that day a good way to boost it is using supplements (like Boost or Ensure plus) instead of milk, full-fat yogurt, nut butters, cream, etc
- apples with peanut butter and chocolate milk
- PB&J
- protein/granola bars! There are so many now...my favorites are luna bars or clif bars. Try microwaving them (depending on the kind/flavor) for a little, so they get all warm and extra yummy!
- waffles with PB and/or nuttella & sliced bananas (eggo/frozen waffles work just fine)
- Pumpkin yogurt:
- 1 c. plain yogurt (or vanilla)
- 1/2 c. pure pumpkin
- agave nectar (to taste)
- cinnamon (to taste)
- pumpkin pie spice (to taste)
- walnuts to sprinkle over your creation
- PB "Ice cream" sandwich
- Graham Crackers
- Peanut Butter & Jelly, flavored PB, PB & honey, Almond butter... ANY BUTTER combo you enjoy
- make a sandwiches with the graham crackers and stick 'em in the freezer till you are in the mood for one.
- Carrots and Peanut Butter
- Clif Zbars warmed up in the microwave with a scoop of ice cream on top and a sprinkle of granola and nuts
- Greek yogurt mixed with honey and nut butter and mashed bananas. Almonds sprinkled on top (WAY TOO GOOD)
I love PB and molasses, very messy but one of my favorites. A normal thing is hot chocolate with extra powdered milk added in. Slighty abnormal is Tuna, bacon, and jam on whole grain bread. Or just jam and bacon. Cheese and jam on crackers or toast is another treat. Apples, raw or cooked, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Mix your favorite jello with whipped cream, let set, and devour. Cream cheese blended with whipped cream, apple caramel topping, then topped with finely chopped skor bars and heated until chocolate melted makes a nice dip for apple slices. Or skip the apples
. Toutons- fried bread dough- slathered with butter and molasses.
almond butter or peanut butter with glennys sea salt soy crisps- so good!
also activia vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, and any cereal- its really filling and amazing!

I actually tried the PB and cheese sandwich idea, I thought it would be a bit.. weird? But man it was good :D

umm I used tasty cheddar cheese, not sure what chitossio used?
umm.. i don't really know what kind of cheese you guys have cause i don't live in USA, UK or AUSTRALIA. soo.. yeah i dunno.. i used either regular or smoked cheese. but they might be totally different from the ones you guys have in your homecountries. you just have to experiment:)
i still like toast - mashed banana - cheese even more :) has anyone tried that?

Ooh banana and cheese? That sounds interesting to say the least, shame we have no bananas at the moment!
As soon as we get some, I promise to atleast try that combo ;)
And yes, PB + banana on toast is heaaaven haha.
