Hi everyone,

I am new to this site and love it! But today I had two high calorie snacks. I am trying to think of tasty, low calorie snacks. I don't want to eat stuff like carrots just for the sake of eating or I will not be satisfied and will still look for the high fat, high salt stuff. What snacks have you found that hit the spot? Thanks.

Hi Justarted! I like to eat cinnamon sugar graham crackers. Two sheets of those (or 8 little rectangles) are only 130 calories. I think the regular honey grahms are 120 calories for the same amount, so I just go ahead and get the cinnamon sugar ones since there isn't a big difrerence, and they taste better.

Or, an apple with a TBSP of peanut butter. I believe PB is 100 calories for a TBSP and a medium Gala apple is right around 60 calories.

Good luck to you, and congrats for just getting started! ;-)

Other kinds of nut butters like cashew or almond butter, or sunflower seed or roasted soy nut butter can provide a little variety if you like using PB as a snack food.

Theres always room for (sugar-free) Jello!
2 T of hummus with some baby carrots

a mini bag of microwave popcorn

celery with peanut butter ( I usually get 2 stalks with 1T of PB)

1 C plain yogurt--I add flaxseed, a dash of cinnamon, and a packet of Stevia, but you could add fruit or whatever you like (hey, don't knock it till you try it--I thought this sounded gross but I LOVE it!!)

4 Triscuits with 1 piece (total) Laughing Cow Light cheese

I'm open to any ideas y'all may have too--I tend to get in a "snack rut"
I've found Marzetti's fat free Southwestern Dip to be really, really good! (Even my hubby who rejects nearly everything that hints of no fat loves it) So, I pile up a big ol' plate of veggies with two tablespoons of dip (0 fat, 30 calories) and really enjoy!

I also love 2% milkfat string cheese, baby bel cheeses and boiled eggs as a snack.

Flavored hummus - 40 spice or roasted red pepper spread on whole wheat toast is great too!
I love to snack, here are a few of my favorites!

Sugar Free Jello...only 10 calories a serving

8 Pieces of celery with a wedge of laughing cow cheese...about 45 cals.

100 calorie pack of popcorn.

7 slices of deli turkey with vlassic peppers....about 80 calories.

Sugar free fudgsicles....about 45 calories each.

Sliced up cucumber dipped in salsa...about 45 calories.

Thanks for your ideas everyone! These are great. For some reason my mind refuses to go past "carrot sticks", blah!!
not sure if they sell them every where but i just picked up a 'go-ahead forest fruit yogurt break' only 68cals per slice

and are really nice :)
Glad you asked, because I needed new ideas too. I like honey nut cheeries (1/2 cup is about 100 calories). The oat bran is good for your colesteral and it lasts me a while since I only eat 1 or pieces at a time.  It satisfies the hand to mouth thing.

I like the Kashi  bars.  Just tried the Honey almond Flax today and loved it.  I'm a nut addict and like a bar with Whole Almonds in it.  140 cals is a lot, but it really filled me up.  Drink a glass of water with these bars and your full all morning.
Once you get away from the high fat/high salt/high sugar snacks for a while, your tastebuds will adjust and you'll be okay with healthier stuff. Give it a shot. Now I love the sweet crunchiness of baby carrots.
Okay, now don't laugh...

Have any of you tried the fruit or veggie puffs by Gerber? Yes, the baby food maker.

I love the sweet potato and the banana flavors. They are only 25 calories for 80! With 6 servings in the container, even if you ate the entire thing, it's still a low calorie snack. I plugged in the nutritionals and they received an A grade.

Definitely great for satifying my hand to mouth habit and crunchy food craving.
Cheese string + clementine = 60 cals + 40 cals= 100 cal snack

Source yogurt + apple = 40 cals + 72ish cals = 112ish cal snack

I like to try to pair up protein with good carbs such as fruit. Other suggestions:

any kind of berries or fruit in yogurt

cottage cheese with almonds

rice crackers and cheese

rice cakes and peanut butter

dried fruits with nuts  (I like apricots with walnuts)
Hey, thatgirldina those Gerber puffs are yummy! They now have peach, too! You should try them! ;-)
cottage cheese with peaches or pears are pretty good. I also got some south beach cereal bars and they seem to help but im not exactly sure on the calories in the chocolate ones! i also like wheat crackers with peanut butter. and i try and drink water as much as possible! i wish i could help more though! :(
applesauce, fat-free yogurt, nuts, seeds
