snack mix realy that good for you???
just because something has a good grade doesn't necessarily mean it's good for you. look at the fat, sodium, and sugar content and be your own judge. also, is it made with whole grain or white flour (99% of the time it will be white flour)? the complex carbs of whole grain are much better for you than white flour. finally does it have a nutrients? calcium, iron, fiber, etc.? that being said, it can certainly be a part of a hleathy lifestyle- everything in moderation! one serving or even two servings (make sure you measure!) as snacks can be totally fine.
Beware the infamous calorie-count grading system! Sometimes it rates some foods very low (or fairly high) based on criteria different than you might use.
Take Green Giant canned asparagus spears. 5 spears, just 20 calories. A yummy green vegetable. What grade does it get? It gets a D- .... that's right, a D-!!! Why? Because it has a lot of sodium in it. (By the way, small fries from McDonald's get a better grade (C-) than Green Giant asparagus.
When using the food grading system, be sure and know what criteria you are looking for .... protein? fat? carbs? fiber? calories? sodium? sugar? And you really need to look at how you are doing, overall, for the whole day...... did you eat plenty of fruits and veggies? Some good fats? A good ratio of protein to carbs?
