Snack Tips for a Registered Chocoholic?

Quote  |  Reply
I've been at this for almost two weeks and it's not so much that I'm starving, it's that I am craving chocolate like never before. I can substitute a Hershey's bar for lunch and feel just as full (not that I would dare to now, but in my "old days"). Anyway, sugar free jell-o snack packs and 80 calorie fudgsicles just aren't cutting it anymore, I need my chocolate!

Any tips?

Eat some chocolate! Set aside some calories so you can have a few pieces every now and then. Go for the dark chocolate, it's a little better for you than milk chocolate. With the C-C "diet" you really can eat anything; give in a little and enjoy!
Personally, I love the Snack Sized chocolates.  Most of them are 100 calories or less and if I hide all but one or two, I don't eat them all.
chocolate heavenly desserts only 12 cals for every 3 pieces! zero fat, no added sugar. check it out!

healthy choice 80 calorie ice cream bars as a nice treat after diner/snack

Thanks everyone! Great tips, especially Yalcekim ordering me to Eat Some Chocolate! Now that I can definitely do.
:)
they make Sugar Free versions of the fun/bite sized Hershey chocolates. I really like them. I think they taste the same except have a slightly smoother texture. they're only around 35 calories or so per chocolate, which isn't spectacular (since they're small), but a few of them are good to take care of your chocolate fix.
i have three hershey's kisses after lunch and dinner almost every day.  it doesn't add up to much, and it counters any feelings of deprivation.
definitely I second the hershey kisses.  I used to save up calories and eat them up to my daily limit.  They were my treat for eating right during the day.  I've since diversified.  Cocovia has chocolate covered almonds (as well as other goodies) that are around 100-200 calories a pack.  100 calorie hostess chocolate cupcakes are to die for.  I also tried doing something that would gross some people out, chocolate syrup mixed in a handful of kashi go lean crunch cereal.  awesome.  My sister just introduced me to quaker minirice cakes with chocolate.  They are great and in a 90 calorie pack.  Special K chocolate cereal is good but not REALLY chocolate and has partially hydrogenated oils.  O and a good old bar of dark chocolate thrown in the freezer so I really do only eat one sqaure a day.  I get my chocolate fix every day :O)  In addition to these chocolate treats (one a day) I have chocolate carmeal nut brownie luna bars for breakfast or mid-morning snack.  Awesome and very good for you.
I make myself a cup of rich hot chocolate every night. I use water or low-fat soy milk, Splenda, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and dark cocoa powder. It's SO good.

Fill up the cup halfway, heat, mix in about 1 1/2 or 2 tbsp. of Splenda, then add 3 tbsp. of cocoa, and mix in. Then finish filling the cup, and heat all the way through. When the cup is only halfway full and you start mixing, it's a lot easier. :)
What I've done in the past is buy the snack size Hershey's dark chocolate (or a similar variety) and they are about 80-100 cals a peice.  I put them in the freezer behind something.  Then, if I get a craving I have one... but they are so hard that I have to break off a peice and let it melt in my mouth ... MMMMM ... so good, and it takes longer to eat that way!  And having them behind something in the freezer is helpful for me because I forget they are there if I don't see them, and therefore I'm not tempted by just looking at them!  Also, there's a new Bubblicious chocolate flavored gum.  I've heard mixed reviews on it, but if you can resist swallowing it's probably a helpful way to get your chocolate fix and make it last!

Hope this helps... best wishes!
Oh my gosh--let me tell you!! 100 calorie packs came out with CHOCOLATE BARS!! They are so DELICIOUS!! I mean--I am a fan of the pretzel bars and the wafers!! Oh they are soooooo good--if you eat one of those, very slowly, you will have your chocolate craving satisfied!! :) Good luck!
I like to eat those Fiber One granola bar things.  there is a chocolate version and I think it tastes like a candy bar.  Chock full of fiber as well.
I do the exact same thing as digdig. =)  Right down to the cinnamon and vanilla.  Sometimes a bit of maple syrup (sugar-free, if you want) adds a nice flavour and complements the chocolate nicely.

One tip: sometimes it helps if you dissolve the cocoa powder in a few tbsp of water first.  Just put it together and mix it up well, then add the milk (or water), sweetener, vanilla, and cinnamon.  Then heat.  Cocoa powder is sometimes surprisingly resistant to being dissolved.
Try 8th continent light chocolate soymilk-7grams of protein and 90 cals for 1 cup

or a south beach diet chocolate protein bar-140 cals and 10grams of protein

I second peaches with the Fiber One bars - I tried my first one during my SAT test and nearly squealed (lucky I didn't, or I probably would have been thrown out)

Also already mentioned, they have the 100 calorie hershy's chocolate bar things. Chocolate kisses are about 20-30 calories each, and they come in tons of flavors (peanut butter. is. godly). You can have chocolate everyday, in moderation of course. This will prevent binges later on.

I make a fruit smoothie with chocolate whey protein powder. With 1/2 a frozen banana, 1/2 scoop powder (50 cal, 9g protein) and lots of ice and blending, I get a nice, big, thick smoothie (almost like a milkshake!) that lasts me a while.

EDIT:
Annnnd I've heard that luna/lara/clif bars come in lots of tasty chocolately flavors. They're 150-250 calories, but full of protein and chocolatey goodness.
Get those semi sweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp is 90 calories, so maybe 2 tbsp would be good for a dessert after supper
Another brand of bar that is AMAZING imho is NuGo organic Double Dark Chocolate flavor. Mmmm. Very chocolatey, 180 calories, and full of vitamins, minerals, protein, some fiber, etc. And it is veryyyy yummy.
Just thought I'd give my favorite chocolate fix a shout-out.
I hit up a really small amount of chocolate fondue, with a some fresh fruit.

Also, No Pudge Brownies are pretty stellar. 0 g of Fat, and 110 cals per brownie.
FUDGESICLE makes these fudge bars. 40 calories for one, sugar free, and fat free! So good! I have a box at the office and one at home =)
The new Special K with chocolate pieces is good, I'm having 3/4 Cup right now, I think it's 120 calories. I also just bought this chocolate dessert cake made by Smart Ones, I think it's 220-240 calories. I haven't tried it yet, need to save that many cals before diving in!

I work in an office where they keep the fridge STOCKED with chocolate, I'll eat a piece every now and again so I don't go on a binge one day!
