Snacks for chocolate lovers
I love chocolate..my new favorite snack is 14 whole almonds and 1/4 of a hershey's special dark chocolaate bar..Almonds are 80 cals. and the chocolate is 45cals.
For 125 cals. I feel it's worth it and satisfies my chocolate craving.
Any other snack suggestions?
No-sugar-added fudgsicles!
I wouldn't call hershey's special dark "chocolate" a chocolate. It's a chocolate flavored candy. Yes I am a chocolate snob!
Trader Joe 72% dark chocolate or Bitter Sweet Chocolate. One piece is 80 calories, and oh so satisfying.
UD
100% dark chocolate "peaces" covered in 70% dark chocolate = 140 calories
Mini G&B dark chocolate bar = 180 calories
Mini chocolove orange peel dark chocolate = 170 calories
Tofutii fudge pops = 40 calories
Light chocolate soymilk = 80 calories?
Tbsp. Dark chocolate pb on an apple = 200 calories or soo?
cocoa loco nak'd bars & cocoa brownie trek bars.
i would choose them over a snickers any day :)
Thick cocoa. I make up batches of powder using 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 2/3 cup sugar and 1/3 cup of corn starch. Mix 2 tablespoons of this into 1/2 cup of low/no fat milk and CAREFULLY microwave it to a boil (it boils over very easily - use a saucer). Stir it up in the cup, then bring it to a boil again. You end up with something like hot, lumpy chocolate pudding, and I prefer to eat it cold, with a spoon. Very intense chocolate flavor (especially the gooey half-dissolved cocoa lumps), and the same calories as eating 1/8 of a 100g bittersweet bar (around 80) . Topping it with a little bit of vanilla ice cream, and a couple of crunchy meringues on the side, improves it.
No way I'd call this health food. But even with all the toppings it satisfies a dessert chocolate craving for 200 calories.
I second eating almonds and broken up pieces of bar chocolate for a snack. For some reason this tastes better than combining the two in a bar. Tart dried fruit (cherries, apricots, whatever) is also good with chocolate.
Hot chocolate is yummy and especially good on a cold night.
Sugar-free chocolate pudding and Healthy Choice Fudge Bars are really good too.
- CocoaVia bars or almonds
- Clif chocolate brownie Zbars
- Light chocolate soy milk
You could do a square of real 72% dark chocolate for 55 calories.
This is more of a chocoalte breakfast but I eat it as a filling after work snack. you tale 1 packet diet swiss miss and 1/8 tsp cinnamon 1 packet splenda and a dash of salt and dump it in a glass. mix in 1/4 c hot water to dissolve mix. once dissolved add 1/4c cold water and stir. place in freezer to cool. While that's cooling in a microwaveable bowl mash 1/2 of a medium banana and mix it up w/ 1/3 c oats. when liquid mix is cool stir in with banana oat mix and mix well. microwave for 1.5-2 mins on high. It's so filling and chocolate -tastic! I got the recipie from hungry-girl!! I live for that site and the cook book is my bff. Tons of low cal choclate recipies! Also take one box reduced fat or sugar free chocolate brownie mix and one can pure pumpkin and mix well then bake according to package directions and you get wonderful chocolate pumpkin low cal brownies! Again another chocolate life saver from hungry-girl!
My lowfat chocolate fudgepops get me through the summer months. I think there are like 60 cals in those and half the time I share with my little shadow lol. WInter is harder. sometime I just allow myself an indulgence in one of those chocolate brownies. Other times I like a good hershey bar. Recently though I brought back my love of Andes Mints. One or two of those and i'm good on my chocolate fix lol. I think its the mint.
This is likely old news, and maybe not sexy enough for you choc-oholics, but me and the missus just discovered these oats & chocolate Fibre1 bars at Costco(http://www.fiberone.com/Product/bars.aspx?key =chocolate). This is the best tasting nutritious bar I've found so far and it satisfies my sweet tooth.
I love the chocolate Fiber One bars too!
Also, SF chocolate pudding cups have been a lifesaver!
yeah, scottwin, I just found those things too. I've got a blood test coming up and want to find out whether eating a lot of fiber will drive down the cholesterol test. These bars looked like an easy way to get some extra fiber without a lot of calories. I've been eating the chocolate mocha and oat apple versions. They taste pretty good with coffee, but they're sticky as all getout.

They sure are tasty, just be careful of those things! The hubster and I call them 'fartbars'. Stand back!! ![]()
I'm with everyone else on the sf pudding cups. I love chocloate with 1/2 banana and a tbsp of sf cool whip! 125 delicious calories. Sans the banana it's only 75 calories. Yippee!
sugar free chocolate pudding hot off the stove! dellleccttable mmm

OMG, that's funny, I haven't noticed this, but then again I've only had 2 so far. Now that you mention it, I have actully noticed a decline in, ahem, flatulence activity since I started eating healthy (that's right, it's not a diet). Sorry if that's too much information for this thread, but toch27 brought it up first
. By the sounds of it, we'll have to look into these sugar free chocolate puddings, any brand in particular that's better than others? I think I like kissingdisparity's idea, but I'd like to drizzle some of it over some fresh strawberry's, I bet that would be yummy as well. I better stop, I'm getting hungry now.
I have a few dark chocolate covered carnberries after dinner if i have a craving. they are definitely satisfying! However....quite addicting. Its really hard to just have the allotted amount. lol
Lindt Intense Mint dark chocolate (2 squares = 60g = 100 Cal). It's a dark chocolate with mint flavour.
My favorite chocolate crave buster:
Take a bowl of frozen blueberries (or raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, some berry or cut up fruit) microwave it so it thaws out completely, no frozen bits, and then you have this wonderful juice left from the unfreezing.
Mix in one tablespoon (or a little more, its only 15 calories) of pure, un-alkalized cocoa, Hershey's is my favorite brand, and the cheapest. You have to make sure to get the unprocessed kind, all the ingredient list should say is "cocoa" because otherwise there are no antioxidants.
Its like eating chocolate covered berries! You can pop it in the fridge and make it cold or eat it warm. MMM
Jello sugar free puddings and they have a variety. Dark Chocolate, Milk chocolate, banana chocolate & for only 60 calories are awesome. But I recently tried a new fiber bar.....and I have tried them all, South Beach, Fiberone, etc. This new one is Kelloggs FiberPlus Antioxidants & it's less costly than the others. Walmart $1.88 for 5 bars that taste soooooo good. Chocolate Almond 130 cal & Chocolate Chip 120 cal, plus fiber, proten, & antioxidants. What more could you want?
