What snacks do you keep in your desk?
What snacks do you keep at your desk? I'm in need of a little variety. I always keep small cans of flavoured tuna, caramel rice cakes, a fruit bar... What do keep to satisfy your snacking needs?
Here are some snacks I like:
- extra-mini boxes of raisins (45 calories each)
- fruit or veg that don't need to be refrigerated (apples, pears, carrots, etc)
- dry cereal (i pre-portion it in baggies)
- nuts or trail mix
- pretzels
- PB to spread on apples
- granola bars
- protein bars
- Fruits,
- salad,
- eggs,
- 72% Dark chocolate or Bitter Sweet chocolate
- fage yogurt mixed with unsweetened cocoa in a tortilla

I don't keep anything in my desk, because I'd be too tempted to eat it whenever I thought about it being there. I plan my meals and snacks in the morning, and bring only what I need for that day. I think having a snack stash involves some intuitive eating (being able to recognize when you are genuinely hungry and not just wanting food) and I just suck at that.
Snacks I bring are pretty diverse...usually whatever is available in my fridge; mostly a peice of fruit (bananas are a favorite), sometimes crackers and cheese if I have room for it in my calories, sometimes turkey pepperoni if my sodium isn't otherwise too high that day, sometimes an oatmeal mini muffin if I made some that week or some crispy minis or 10 raw almonds. About the only thing I don't ever snack on is veggies, because they are usually a big part of my meals and I just don't feel like more.
i keep these in my desk in my dorm: granola bars, instant oatmeal packets, bananas, apples, sometimes peanut butter.
i also keep string cheese, yogurt and vitamuffins/tops in my fridge and freezer.
Fiber One Bars-- Chocolate one! so yummy and if you drink a glass of water with it - your full!
Two birds with one stone - so to speak Yummy Chocolate craving fixed and fills me up. 9 grams of fiber!
- raisins
- almonds
- apples
- bananas
It can vary each week, but those are the main foods I keep in my desk.
Protein bars.
In the fridge- laughing cow cheese.
I like a lot of protein. Can you tell?
Gotta feed the guns.
I also have some 100 calorie pack cookie type things in case I feel a little low on blood sugar-happppens if I don't eat for more than about 4-5 hours, even though I don't have diabetes. Or just want a sweet. Rare though. I had a 6 pack, only ate 1 or two so far in the past 3-4 months.
90 calorie granola bar
gum (my addiction)
packets of diet 25 cal hot cocoa
activia light yogurt in the fridge
Carrots work best for me and I always keep those around. It's the texture as well as the sweet, I think.
Apples, bananas, grapes when I can find them cheap - are favorites, too.
I'm also big on the Kashi bars, though I try to save those for special times, as they have about 140 calories a piece.
Celery is great for emergency back up - when I know I really ought not have any more calories but I'm dying to munch.
WATER! A great big jug of water. I try to gulp some down before I snack, to see if I'm really just thirsty not hungry, and after I snack, to make the food feel like more.
