Snacks/Foods that make you feel full
Reason: Released as sticky
rice cakes (my favorite is the buttered popcorn flavor) make me feel super full. another thing that ive been eating recently that fills me up is a whole grain english muffin with a tablespoon of whipped cream cheese on it. so yummy and so filling!
I find that fruit & veggies fill me up..You can eat a huge salad for less than 100 calories. It's different for everyone though.
100 cals of air popped corn is about 6 cups, a decent amount and pretty yummy
other whole grain foods like bagels, muffins, and bread may also do the trick. Slather some peanut butter on top and there you goo :). I don't know if you're looking for snacks on the go, but oatmeal ALWAYS satiates me and it's delicious.
Also try foods high in fiber. It fills you up and helps with digestion
My all time favorite filler snack is a stick of sting cheese (around 60 cals) and 8 wheat thins (70 cals). It doesn't sound like much but if you take your time to taste the food it's really filling and it sticks with me for only 130 Cals.
Good luck!!!
i really like kashi go crunch bars in chocolate almond. all of them are really good though. they are less than 150 cal and taste like candy...but not super sweet. i can't stand any other protein or granola type bar after getting started with kashi. i tend to drink a lot of water when i eat one...usually as a late afternoon snack at my desk and it really fills me up. i love them.
1/3 cup of oatmeal is amazing as well, and for only 100 cals!
You can make a pretty low cal protein shake too. I like to use 1/2 banana, 1/2 c milk, 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder and TONS of ice and some water too. It makes a HUGE smoothie and it's very filling.
Also a piece of toast with ff cottage cheese spread on top. If you have it, a spoonful of pumpkin goes wonderfully with that, too =)
My favorite snack of all time is a raspberry smoothie!
1 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 heaping spoonfull of peanut butter
1/2 a banana
a squirt of honey (if you're not worried about sugar intake)
Blend!
This smoothie is wonderfully think and deliciouse! It goes really well with a peanut butter and banana sandwich (yum). That's a lot of peanut butter though, so try to get an all natural brand so there's less icky stuff in it.
Try Homous - a middles eastern dish made with chickpeas and seasame seed paste, garlic, a little olive oil. You can eat quite a lot of it and it is fantastic with raw veggies or a half a slice of wholemeal pitta bread.
Hi,
I find that boiled soy beans make me feel full for long. Besides they are rich in protein and very low in fat and carbs, the ideal recipe for fat loss. You can find dozens of recipes that include soy beans as ingredients. I eat 180g boild soy beans at one go mixed with salad.
Anything with avocado in it. Watch the calories, of course. I am the only one in my family who likes it, so when I eat an avocado, it is my whole dinner. And I am stuffed! I mix it with salsa for an easy guac. Baby carrots or pita chips are delicious in this dip!
I like fiberone cereal because it is only 60 cals for 1/2 cup and when you add it to yogurt it makes it very crunchy and chewy so your snack will last longer too. I also like to mix is with cottage cheese and fruit.
Squash cut into strips and sprinkled with spices (chili, basil, black pepper) is very low in calories (half a medium zucchini is only 16 cals) and it's great for snacking.
The food that fills me up the most is shredded cabbage. I mix in a couple of different types (white and red) and two cups of it is only about 40 calories, but I'm always stuffed before I'm even half-way through. Cabbage and pineapple are a match made in heaven, so drizzle some pineapple juice on top for a fruity flavour.
Personally i like apples. It takes me a while to eat and satisfies my sweet tooth whenever i crave something not so good for me.
How many calories was in that Raspberry Smoothie??
Tami
How many calories does this have in it? It sounds great

I go with the smoothie idea as a first choice. There's so much fruit available -- I do a stone-fruit smoothie:
8 oz peach 4 oz plum 6 oz nectarine 4 oz apricot 4 oz fat free yogurt 1 med banana 4 oz water 12 oz ice 1 T Benefiber
It makes a 5-6cup smoothie of about 400 calories, 13g of protein, and 16g of fiber. And it lasts a loooong time -- great on a hot summer day. I usually put in about 1 T of lemon juice, too -- but that's because I like sour....
Second favorite snack is a big plate of dusted broccoli. I saw the recipe about 10 years ago in a magazine as "dusty cauliflower" -- then Alton Brown did it with broccoli on Food Network's Good Eats. : Steam about a pound of broccoli tops until just barely tender, then spritz it lightly w/ melted butter and toss in a mixture of toasted panko bread crumbs, salt, pepper, and parmesan. It takes about 1/3c total of the bread crumb mixture. Then spread out on a Pam'd cookie sheet and bake it until toasty (about 10-12min at 350) Lots of flavor, really filling, and works with broc, cauliflower, yellow squash, zucchini, sliced onions & peppers, drained tomato slices -- even halved brussels sprouts!
If you want to stay with low calorie foods that fill you up and keep you satisfied, I definitely reccomend Special K Crispy Bites (strawberry flavored is my favorite, but vanilla is okay too). If you eat it slowly, it will fill you up. Eat a pack of these and drink a whole bottle of water, and you wont be running to the fridge or pantry so often!
1 % cottage cheese or a banana
I like the Fiber One cereal dry. It's sweet, crunchy and if you eat a few pieces at a time, 1 cup lasts a LONG time. Also, the 100 calorie popcorn bags are great too. The trick (I think) is to eat slowly while reading or doing some other occupying task which makes you concentrate on something other than the food or your hunger.
