Snacks/Foods that make you feel full

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, I am looking for suggestions on low calorie foods that make you feel full even if you eat a small portion. So far it seems like only peanut butter does the trick. Everything else: small portion = feel hungry half an hour later. Even those protein bars don't make me feel full (plus they taste so awful). Meat/poultry fill me up as well but thats not really a practical snack throughout the day. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Low cal wheat bread is really great, I get the 40 cal per slice, toast it, and spread light laughing cow cheese on it for 115 calories, it fills you up really well.

olives

or cherry tomatoes

For me, it's something that has protein but also has a little fat. If I try to go for a lower-fat alternative, I get hungry a lot faster.

A few things that I like:
A hard boiled egg
A tbsp peanut or other nut butter
1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese
1/2 cup yogurt with some fat in it

I like to eat Simple harvest soup.  It has like 100 calories a serving and you can eat the entire can for 200 calories and i feel full

Popcorn: I love the 100 calorie bags; HUGE serving!

4 oz nonfat yogurt or skim milk blended with sugar substitute & flavor of your choice & 2 cups ice

Lettuce wrapped pickles with mustard

Puffed millet (50 calories / cup)

Sliced Deli Meats

2 cups veggies w/ 4 ounces ground turkey & spices

I eat a banana or a wedge of papaya if I want to feel full. :) Over here, we have local snacks such as soon kueh (steamed Chinese dumpling with radish and dried shrimps) and they are really filling too.

I find that veggies with a lot of fiber fill me up(cauliflower, broccoli, baby carrots, etc.). I had a bag of cauliflower the other day that was 60 cals for the whole thing and I couldn't even finish it. Also sweet potatoes. The aren't as low calorie as a lot of other veggies, but they are very filling. I recommend Genisoy soynuts. Eat them one at a time and a 1/4 cup serving last a LONG time. Tangerines and oranges are good too because they take a while to eat. Definitely do what the others are saying about drinking water with your snacks/meals. It really does the trick for me.
