My left knee makes quite a bit of noise when I exercise. It's kind of like a grinding sound...anyone have a clue on this? I'll be going for a regular check-up in the next month or so (one of those things you do when you turn 30). But I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else had any ideas...
Thanks!

ha my knees are the same, I have had several injuries so I blame that (I am 29)
Any pain with the noise?
No, not really. Maybe a slight tenderness when I'm doing things, like lunges, that put a lot of stress on the knee. But nothing that warrents taking medication for. I'll be 30 in (ugh!) a month, so I'll ask my doc about it when I go in for a check up. I haven't had any injuries, just 2 pregnancies...and a lot of extra weight :o) Do you have pain with yours?
Usually if there is just noise and it's not painful, it's just the fluid in the joint capsule re-distributing {like when one "cracks" their knuckles} but if there is pain and/or swelling after exercise you'd be smart to address it with your Dr. at your check-up.
I know that knees have an easier time doing their job with less weight on them, but personally my knees "pop" just as much at 33 years old and 235 pounds as they did at 25 and 140 pounds - I think some people just "pop" more than others :)

Thank you for your reply and your knowledge :o)
same with me, a bunch of popping noise. ehh, as long as it doesnt hurt i dont really get myself concerned
Anytime, I'm glad I could help :)
My knees pop like crazy, even if I'm just squatting down! It's insane, and I'm only 18 and 140! Knee problems are genetic in my family though....
If squats hurt, you may want to not do them. My knee surgeon explained to me that women's knees are more fragile because our hips are wider placing the joint at a worse angle. Turns out listening to your pain is a good idea. Knee surgery sucks.
my neck does that if I roll my head around.........its a potato chip sound.
