Socks for New Runner with Small Feet?
I am really hoping someone knows of a brand of socks geared toward women with small feet! I usually wear a size six shoe, and have a very narrow foot. The "fits shoe size 5-9" or whatever for regular women's socks have never really fit me, but it wasn't a big deal until I started running. Now, the excess sock is giving me blisters, and I feel like an idiot with half of the "heel" sticking out the back top of my shoe. If anyone has any advice, I would be very grateful!
Try DeFeet or Thorlo socks -- they have a variety of sizes and materials that hug the foot. I love them -- they are expensive, but worth it.
I have really small feet - even smaller than yours! They are a 4.5....so I know what you mean about trying to find socks that work well.
I have been running for about 2 years now, and have always used WrightSock cool mesh socks. They are a double layer sock so you avoid getting blisters. Their small size fits me well (and they shrink after a few times in the dryer, so that's even better).
You can get them at REI http://www.rei.com/search?query=wright+socks, but I've also found them at discount retailers like Sierra Trading Post http://www.sierratradingpost.com/
Happy running!
Thank you both so much! You've made my week!
I thought this link might be helpful to you. I wear cool-max socks when I run and have never gotten a blister in them but they can be pricey. You can buy a "grab bag" assortment of left over socks from races and such on amazon.com. The only down side is your socks won't necessarily match your clothes but I personally don't care if my socks match when I am running.
