Soft pretzels- how bad do you all think they are for ya?

Quote  |  Reply

So, I had a soft pretzel today for a snack and I looked and it said it was 160 calories and not that many carbs. Im not sure if its the same type i had so I will assume mine was more like 230 ...but is that totally bad? Is a soft pretzel something to avoid in the future?

I know the frozen type you can buy in the grocery store are around 160 calories.  I like them, I dont think they're the healthiest thing as far as nutrition goes, I mean no protein or calcium or anything, but I dont see any reason they would be bad for you.  Except maybe if they're fried or covered in butter like the ones at the mall, haha.  But yea, they seem fine to me.

I have seen so many different labels for soft pretzels.  I LOVE soft pretzels from the Target food court.  I've seen them ranging from 200-600.  I think the big ones are probably around 400.  A salted bagel has about 320 and they are probably pretty similar.

I think they're a great snack because they're low in sodium (I get w/o the salt) and low in fat.  But they're high in calorie and carbs.  If you can budget them in, go for it!  They're very satisfying.

oooh i love soft pretzels! especially with nacho cheese! they are bad but i make room for them in my diet every once in a while! i ould say go for it as a treat to yourself!

i adore soft pretzels, i've been craving one of those babies for awhile now :)

pretzels are usually made with white flour, and are served drenched in salt, dripping in butter and therefore, probably high in calories.

my old babysitter used to make soft pretzels from scratch. she wasn't health-conscious, but i'm sure if you looked somewhere on cc or on google, you could find a healthier recipe for them.

if you do, let me know ;)
