Can I somehow tag a meal?

Quote  |  Reply

Like I have added everything into a meal, is there anyway I can tag all the items inside of a meal then name it so I can just add that to my food log instead of adding everything over then next time I have the same meal?

Yep there is.
Beside all of the foods that you log there is a T, just click on it and then name your tag.

Ahh thanks! This shall save me lots of time :)

I also tried to tag all the ingredients in one meal and hit the t button and all that does is bring up each thing..not the whole meal so I don't believe there is a way to do it unless I am doing something wrong.  I would really like to know for sure though....thanks

My work around on this was to add all of the ingredients, sum up all the calories, fat, etc. then add a new entry with the sum total of the meal.  For example - every morning I have two egg whites, one piece of cheese, one slice of toast.  Instead of entering each item, I summed them up and tagged it as Jen's Egg Breakfast.

Yes jen..that is also what I ended up doing so I don't believe there is any other way to do it...If there is I would really like to know...thanks

If something has more than a few ingredients, I find it faster to hit "new recipe" put everything in there, and then just save it.  Anytime you eat it, go to "my recipies" and there it is.  BUT, you have to be clear when you first put it in how many servings you are making.  When you go to add it to your food log from the recipe list, you can't change the amount.  so if you put in a concoction as "1 serving" that is how much you will have to add to your food log every time.  (You actually can change the weight of the serving when you put it in your food log, but it has no effect on the amount of calories, fiber, etc that end up on your food log.)

Also, if you are doing it this way, its a good idea to know how to use the food id number.  Search it in the forum, several people already explained this really well.

That's what I tried to do, too, with egg salad and albacore salad and a couple of other things.  Like you said, it still brings up each individual item, not the whole thing.

My suggestion is to "Tag" your common meals.

Example:  Turkey Sandwich

Locate your bread and tag it to Turkey Sandwich
Locate your Turkey and tag it to Turkey Sandwich
Locate your mayo and tag it to Turkey Sandwich

Then all you have to do is hit the blue plus button by the tag Turkey Sandwich and all the ingredients will be added.

I think that's what I did, Sheila.  But, then later when I pulled up my tagged items and clicked on Egg Salad, all it did was bring up each item in the egg salad in a list on the left side of the screen.  Wonder what I did wrong.  Undecided

Locate your egg salad tag on the right hand list you will see 4 - egg salad then a blue + symbol.

If you click on the "egg salad" name it will pull those ingredients and you will only see the tagged items in your egg salad.  What you need to do is click the Blue + and this will add all those four ingredients simultaneously.

Oh, good grief, Sheila, THAT worked perfectly.  Thank you so much!!! Laughing
