ive lost 9 lbs since january and have lost a lot of excess fat from bad foods and no exercise. Now i am exercising and eating much better and of a good amount i feel better and my body looks better.

I checked my BMI to see how well i'd done and it said now i was at BMI 19 and that was underweight by one nudge for my height of 6 ft 2. But my body still has excess fat that definitley isnt flab that needs to be toned.. its fat that needs to be moved before i can see tone.... i was really wondeirng if anyone had expert advice on if i DO need to focus on toning more or if i should just continue healthily losing fat and gaining muscle.. thankyou!

so what you mean to say is:

your bmi says you're underweight but your MIND doesn't.

becuase you seem to have a distorted reality, which is a sign of an eating disorder.

get yourself to a doctor, asap.
but im not underweight im actually at a stage where im looking fit .. im not skinny at all and i know i dont have an eating disorder or i would be not eating enough..... i only exercise 30 minutes 5 days a week and i eat around 1600 to 2000 calories a day.. i just thought someone on here might know if it means i need to start toning so that the muscle makes my weight go up or something.. i didnt really need advice like that..
so you're underweight, but you're fat?

hello, don't you see the contradiction in that?

i'm serious. get yourself to a doctor.
im not fat i said i still look like i need to tone areas that are flabby and i was wondering if that is what i should focus on
Work out and build some muscle, and you will gain weight in the process and everything will be all good! You don´t need to see a doctor to know that you need to do that.
yes, you've admitted that you dont need to lose any more weight - so stop doing that

you've also admitted that you still have some flabby areas

so yes, eat well, and focus on toning up the flab
thanks i will tone more now.... i just wish on this website that people would stop attacking you for asking questions that contain the word undeweight in it.... especially when you are just trying to be healthier and have support.
I would continue with the 30 minutes of daily cardio because you need that to maintain a healthy heart but if you need to tone up add some resistance workouts to target the ares that need toning converting some flab to toned muscle.  Make sure you have a healthy amount of protien to build the muscles.
Yes hit the gym and lift some weights.  Those muscles will grow and you will even put on a little weight.  Make sure you eat enough to feed growing muscles.
so i should up my calories and eat more protein to help with toning my body
Now is the time to tone up.   You are what we call around here "Skinny Fat".

You lost the weight but you need to tone up so your skin will tighten up some and you'll have some muscle to fill out the areas of your body so you can not only look better but be truly healthy.

See, right now you aren't healthy.  You may have a low BMI, but that doesn't mean you are fit and healthy.

So yeah time to start jogging, weightlifting, and so on and start building some good muscle and help some of those flabby areas not look so flabby.

Back extercises should be high on your list of to do's as that'll help pull in any extra skin around your stomach and also help flatten it so you don't feel like you have so much fat.

Everyone has some fat on their body though.  It's normal and healthy to have some.  So forget dieting for right now and work on seriously working out.
I completely agree with night...plus keep in mind the bmi is a general tool, it is pretty accurate, but cannot take into consideration each individuals body type.

Based on what you have said you are at the toning stage.  I wish you luck.  Don't be alarmed if the scale goes up a few lbs.  That means you are gaining muscle and your body will look even better.

So hit those weights girl!
great advice nightc1 ok so i will start doing weight training and keep up with the cardio exercise.... i think i will focus on my back abs and obliques because my lower body is getting very toned just from the cardio... thanks a lot and i'm glad someone gave me some decent advice cheers
does anyone have any good weight training techniques for the back abs and obliques? be very helpful thankyou
19 bmi is NOT underweight.

under 18.5 is underweight.

once you start to eat the calories you need to stay at that wt. everything will start to tighen up and smooth out. adding a work out will add even more.

lean protiens are good for that.

emskirooni - you might want to make a post in fitness, or simply check out the existing posts over there.  There is a ton of advice on good core training if you dig through some of the threads.  :)
alright im off to fitness lol!! cheers everyone!
Lift weights or do pilates.  Losing more weight won't help you firm up much but adding some strength training on an already lean body should make a huge difference.
No problem.

And hey working the core muscles like that is great and all but do some chest, upper back, shoulders and arms as well.   It'll also improve your overall appearance.

You will have to add some extras calories to your diet now that you want to build some muscle. Make sure you are getting adequate amounts of protein. Id aim for 30-40 % of your calories coming from protein, 25-35% from fats and 25-40% from carbs. Make sure the fat is mostly mono and polysaturated and choose carbs high in fiber.

Don't focus only on back and abs. I'd plan out a split full body workout. Where you focus on different muscles different days of the week resting each muscle group aprx 48 in between workouts.
