Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k can someone answer me this?
So I have lost 50 pounds to date. I started my weight loss is August and have been losing about 7 pounds per month. Last month I didn't lose anything! I haven't changed any of my diet or exercise routines. Does anyone have any advice for me as to what I should do differently now?

You've probably hit a plateau. You should change your workout schedule, because your body probably got used to the exercise you are doing. I'm not sure what type of workout schedule you have, but if you could do new ab exercises or maybe add lunges/squats, etc. Change the cardio machine that you are using. So instead of only using a treadmill, you could also use the elliptical or bike.
I'm not sure what type of advice I could give you in terms of nutrition. I'll let someone with more experience deal with that.

You can also try upping your calories to maintanaince for a little while, like a week or two, and then cutting it back down again. Or you can try adding a cheat meal, where you go way over.
But, are you sure you're not still losing? Sometimes you won't see anything on the scale, but you will see improvements if you're taking measurements with a tape measure. Sometimes your body just needs to readjust things to compensate for the loss of fat.
Congrats on the 50. You're doing well.

newpyjoy you said "I haven't changed any of my diet or exercise routines." Does this mean you are still eating the same amount of calories? If so maybe it is time to adjust down because you have lost weight and are burning less with exercise.
Congrats on the weight loss so far!!
because you weigh less your body should burn less calories during the same length/intensity workout as before. you may need to adjust workouts, or the extra calories you add to compensate for the work out.
because you have lost so much you might want to recalcute your allowance and expenditure again based on your current weight to make sure the amount you are eating still makes sense.
good luck, you have come so far!!

can't add anything to the advice already given, so I'll just add my congrats for the weight loss . . .
Thank you all so much for the advice. I have been sticking to any where from 1300 - 1600 calories a day. Calorie count says I need 1650 to lose. As far as my exercise....I basically only walk about a half mile a day and then jog around the block everyday. I'm not sure what else I should do. Any suggestions? Its been working for me and I'm not really sure what to do now that its not.
Plateau. Great fun. I hate that. What worked for me was changing it up a bit. I gave my body a shock to something different.. I think it was my body getting used to everything I had done. I changed my activities and the times I did them. Sometimes I had a cheat meal. I switched bread for a week, I also drank more fruit juice that week. Basically for one week I gave my body a wake up call. I changed the routine of my cardio and weight training. Some days I wouldn't even do it. Only for a week though. It worked for me. I hope this makes sense. I look at a plateau as my body saying HEY I am bored do something new. Give it some excitment than go back to same ol same ol.
ilovebunnies is right.. because you've lost 50 pounds, your body don't need as many calories as before. You need to adjust.
Congrats on your success! That's awesome!
