What to get for someone who has EVERYTHING!

Merry Christmas! Everyone knows someone tough to buy for. UGH!

Anyone have any ideas that work for anyone...besides giftcards...they're just not my style!

how about donating to a charity in their name?  or buying a goat (for milk) for a family in africa?

if that's not your thing, i always think it's good to go for unique local gifts.  for instance, in my hometown there's a company that roasts coffee and blends teas.  their products are all organic, fair trade, etc.  a pound of their coffee is one of my favourite gifts to give, esp. when i stay with friends.

My family doesn't exchange gifts for exactly this reason. The gift of time is so much more meaningful, although not always possible due to timing and distance etc.

Some ideas are to bake for people, give alcohol, homemade soaps, or a hand-written letter about how special they are to you. You could also take a special photo and have it blown up and framed for them. Have you considered a magazine subscription? a massage or other spa treatment? socks? special chocolates/treats? concert or event tickets?

Things I'd personally like are a gift certificate to have my car cleaned or to find out someone had put money toward my tuition.

This year for colleagues I'm baking cookies, cakes, and rum balls. With friends, it's typically chocolate, books, alcohol, a restaurant supper, or jewellery. I prefer to give (and receive) consumable gifts or something I know will be practical for the recipient.

I love gift cards. They are my favorite gift but if you don't like that idea here are a few others.

Personalized note pads or return address labels.

Calendar with pictures of something they are interested in

books

A gift basket filled with things they like or fun things. For example a movie basket. A movie, popcorn, drink boxes, candy that you would find in a theater and a throw blanket. Or a spa basket. Soaps, lotions, bubble bath, shampoo, bath pillow, candle, tea cup and bags. Just something they like.

Concert tickets, movie tickets, tickets to a local theater.

Chocolates and nuts

A subscription to a local newspaper or a magazine

Wine of the month, fruit of the month, desert of the month subscriptions

Homemade food. cake, pie, cookies, brownies

Something you'd want for yourself for them and tell them to get something they'd want for themselves for you.

Regifting is not frowned upon unless you get caught or if it's something you really want.

I told everyone that this holiday, I'm giving food to the food pantries in my city in their names.  There are a lot of people strapped right now, and I've heard on the news several times that the food pantries haven't been able to keep up at all.

a Clone-A-Willy

An adult sized one-sie...who wouldn't want one!

This year my gifts include;

A vulture (adopted from a local zoo) for my brother.

A star named after my great aunty who is unlikely to still be with us next year.

Penguin feeding for my sister in law.

An acre of mars for my brother in law.

:o)

Books.  Books are timeless.  You can find books on ANYTHING!  So, if this person has an interst it would be easy top find a coffee table book on it.
