Can someone explain the percentages on the analysis?

I assumed the percentages were just the percentage of grams of protein, for example, you have vs the total amount of grams you've taken in bw protein, fat, carbs and other.  However, it clearly is not, bc I am at more protein than fats for my day, yet it only lists protein around 21%.

Can someone explain this a little better to me?

The macronutrients have varying energy to weight ratio. Carbs and Protein are equivalent to 4 cal/g, whereas fat is closer to 9 cal/g/.

Ooh right.  So that's what the percentages are based on then?  So when trying to scale a diet, is it best to do it on the percentages given or the actual grams?  Say for example I want 40% protein, 35% fat, 25% carbs.

yea, i was wondering the same thing...   i was worried about the fact that i already have 47% fat in my analysis... all i've eaten is chicken breast and a large salad, but i'm guessing the olive oil and sunflower seeds in the salad are what made the fat percentage so high? as long as i continue to eat things low in fat throughout the rest of the day i guess it will even out.  I'm also going for a high protein diet, and it's more difficult than i thought...
