Can someone with a food scale tell me how thick of a slice makes a serving of cheese?

I'd like to know how thick of a slice I should cut from a normal sized block of cheese to equal the 30 grams that they give as a serving size. I don't know why they give the measurement for a cube :S

Is the normal sized block of cheese like the foot long, 1 inch Kraft or Cracker Barrel kind? If so, I think there are 17 or 18 servings and I ended up getting out the measuring tape one day. I figured out that by the number of servings in the brick, each serving was 1 1/2 CM slice.

You can do the same with any size cheese. It should say the grams or oz total on the front, devide that by the serving size and find out how many servings are in the cheese brick. Then measure the length of the cheese brick and divide it by the number of servings. It will give you the measurement of cheese you can eat, and should be approximately 30g- a standard cheese serving.

I didn't even think about figuring it out the way you did, I just assumed you needed a scale. It's a 520 gram package and about an inch wide so I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same size. Right now I don't have a full bar so I can't actually measure it and do the math. I'll use your number until I buy another one and then check just to make sure it's the same. Thanks for your help!

The cheese I buy comes in an 8-oz package. If it's a cheese I know I'll just snack on (as opposed to using it for recipes or in sandwiches) I cut it into halves-quarters-eighths by eye, making the 8 1 oz servings and storing them in a plastic baggie.

Just something I discovered...the Cabot cheeses - they have lines on their packaging to show how much is a serving size.  Thought that was helpful.

On the Canadian Food Guide, they compare an ounce of cheese to a the dimensions of a domino (and from my food scale, it's pretty much exactly that).  Hope that helps!
