I LOVE eating fruit. Kiwis, apples, oranges and bananas. My question is, can eating too much be bad for weight loss?

To much of anything is bad for you. But I wouldn't worry about it, eating fruit isn't going to destroy your diet.
Fruit is high in sugar, and can be high in carbohydrates. I also know from experience that eating too much can stop weight loss. Most "diets" suggest 2-3 peices (or ~405g) per day.
i'm with you here - i luv fruit as well! espesh nectarines, peaches, raspberries. i've never heard about eating too much of it stopping weight loss.....that's weird. all i've heard is that eatin a lot of fruit and veg can cause bloating.
YES! It can throw a MAJOR wrench in your progress! Not so much if you have a lot of weight to loose (more that 30), but if you're withing 0-12lbs of your goal be careful. Esp. stuff like: oranges, bananas, large apples, pineapple, mango, etc.
Blueberries, raspberries are something you need to be less concerned about.

choose lower calorie fruits. Strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe and grapefruit are good and you can have a large serving.
But remember, none of us got fat because we ate too much fruit.

It can also raise your tryglicerides (I think that's how it is spelled) I increased my fruits when I was trying to lower my cholesterol and when I had my blood test the doctor asked if I had been increasing my fruits. He said not to increase them as much. 2-3 servings per day.
If you have the calories to use I don't see the problem.
Most days I eat around 2 lbs of fruit. Plus at least 1 lb of vegetables. But then I'm eating 2400+ calories every day so it fits.

Um...I'd really like to see everyone's sources who state that fruit can be bad. Sure, you need to log your fruit just like anything else you eat (a medium banana is 105 cals after all), but fruit itself is NOT going to stall or stop your weight loss. Fruits are high in essential vitamins as well as antioxidants, all of which contribute to general good health and disease prevention.
Just do a search under "recommended servings of fruit" online and you'll find tons of stuff from the American Heart Association, WHO, and others that lament the fact that Americans don't eat enough fruit and veggies. I found this: "USDA food supply data indicate that Americans consume 1.4 servings of fruit daily, less than half the 4 servings or 2 cups recommended in the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for adults eating 2,000 calories per day. " There's good info like this all over the place; you just need to look.
And as far as "bloating," that is due to the fact that fruit is high in fiber. The recommended amount of fiber intake daily for adults is 25-35g per day. Most Americans get 15 or less. If you have a general low fiber intake and then all of a sudden start eating more, your body will take a bit to adjust. Trust me, after you've been eating more fruits and veggies for a couple of weeks, all bloating will disappear and you will feel even better than you did before you started. Your body NEEDS fiber to clean itself out properly. It's been suggested that low fiber intake is a risk factor for colon cancer.
And my final argument (yay for fruit!) is a personal one. One of my new years resolutions was to start eating more fruit because I knew I didn't get enough. I have a smoothie every night with things like bananas, blueberries, strawberries...pretty much whatever blends well. If this was REALLY going to stall my weight, I don't think I'd be down 10 lbs since I started this whole thing. It also satisfies my evening sweet tooth without me having to eat something high in refined sugar.
Fruit is your friend. Get to know it better.

thanks star! Most of the good food I eat in a day is fruit, and I am glad someone said it, since eating fruit (even a bit too much) will not stop or hinder your weight loss!
I'm addicted to mandarin oranges and that's okay! :)
