Can someone honestly tell me if I can lose 10 pounds in a month and a half safely?

Ok, so I really want to get down to about 110 by the end of the summer and I currently weigh 122. I am a teen on a 1200 calorie diet, but I'm wondering if I should eat more to lose weight (that weird thing people have been saying) because I haven't really lost any weight for the week I've been on the diet. I'm just wondering if I can actually do it. I've seen the show the last 10 pounds bootcamp and some of those people lose a lot of weight in a month so I'm wondering if that can happen to me if I work hard enough and MOST IMPORTANTLY will it stay off, or is it just going to come back on the second i eat more.

I am lookng at losing maybe something close to that also. Wanna do it safely together?
I would think that you would have to ratchet your exercise up tremendously...you'll still need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories per day of nutritious food, probably more to keep everything well balanced.
i suggest seeing a nutritionist and telling them your goals. they'll provide a list of the things you should eat. drastically changing your diet for a short period of time will guarantee that the second you go back to doing what you were doing before you'll gain some of the weight back -- if not all of it.
If you want to lost the weight and keep it off, doctors suggest losing 2 pounds per week. If you do that each week for a month and a half then you would lose 14 pounds! If you would like to stop at 10 or 12 I would just use the extra weeks to get use to the weight that you want to stay at! Maybe figure out how to maintain your weight when you figure out you want to stop losing. Hope that helps a bit. Also try to find out how many calories you burn in a day just from living and find out how many calories you have to eat so you wont lose or maintain too much.  I know this info plastered all over the web but maybe just hearing it more time would get you to do it. I would deffinetly check out a nutritionist as well (like bytheriversof said). My mom is going to one and has lost weight because she now understands what she has to do and what is healthy for HER.
I'm sure you can. Just remember it's not as easy to lose weight when you're talking about those last ten pounds than if you were 180 lbs or something. When I was heavy I could drop ten lbs by cutting out my evening cupcake for a week.
The less you eat the more muscle you will loose -- this is not what you want.  By only eating 1200 Cals/day as a teen already at a low weight, you are sure to mostly loose muscle.  Eat more, exercise for health, and stop worrying about the number on the scale -- its nearly meaningless.
Ok ashalee, lets lose our weight together! yay!

wannabehott,

This is my first time writing in the forums but I noticed your posting about the show the "Last 10 Pounds Bootcamp". I was a contestant on the show (My episode will air soon!) and lost more than 10 pounds in 4 weeks. I ate healthy before going on the program, so I had to work out ALOT and at a high intensity in order to get the results that I did. When it really is your "LAST" ten pounds, it is much harder to lose! I was in the gym twice a day most days but the show really only lets you see a teeny fraction of that.

One thing I learned is that weight loss is a lot of hard work, but other then that, it's easy...just eat good and if you're at the gym, make sure you're SWEATING! make it worth your time. :) The concept really is simple.

Other then that, love your body and be thankful that you're healthy enough to be active if you choose to be.

*hugs*

Your weight loss really depends on your percentage of fat You didnt say how tall you are or what your fat percentage is.  If you only have 30 pounds of fat on you (24.5 Body fat) you could lose about 2 pounds (a little less) a week MAXIMUM and that would erode as you lost wieght and that would require you to have a 950 calorie deficit (The maximum that you could have with that much fat)  But if you have less fat it'll take longer.

Figure out your fat percentage and you can come up with a good game plan.
