okay so, i went from a 'diet' restricting basically everything; i'd eat about 600 calories everyday, and this has lead to my binging. in june, the last time i checked, i was 5'7 and about 126 lbs.. but ever since then, i've been eating terribly. like, binging. badly. on good days they're 3000 calories.

anyway, a few days ago i weighed myself, and i was in the 150s ! how is that even possible..? my question is - how come all of my clothes still fit the same? if i've gained 40 lbs, wouldn't it show by now? i DO exercise everyday, whether it be walking or a little weight lifting. and after i eat, i get pretty hyper, so i run around. i'm also a teenager .. so is this weight going to show anytime soon? =/

oops, i didn't mean to write 40 lbs. i meant about 25 ;]
I don't know how young you are, but maybe you've grown taller? Also, you've been lifting weights, so you might've gained muscle mass, which would explain you gaining weight but not inches. Sorry, I know those are weak explanations, but that's all I got!

Well you shouldn't eat less than 1200-1500 calories in a day depending on your gender or you'll mess your body up pretty badly.

If you've gained all that weight but haven't seen your waist line getting bigger you may just be building muscle mass which is smaller but heavier than fat-- so there is that.

Also, if you're a teenager then you may be going through a growth spurt or getting ready for one so your body is gearing up for it by demanding calories, especially after starving yourself.

My advice is eat as your body tells you to (remember AT LEAST 1200-1500- but more if you're a teenager) but just limit yourself to healthy foods instead of junk. If it's between a bag of chips or some fruit as a snack go for the fruit.

ooh no, any help is seriously appreciated =))) so thank you. i'm really paranoid about this stuff... it's like, i'll binge once a day, and then i won't eat anything the rest of the day. [which is what's causing me to eat a lot in the first place!] my feet have gotten bigger, though, and i'm taller than my mom now. =D but bleh.. i don't know..
First of all, even at 150, at 5'7" you are probably at a pretty healthy weight because your body is still growing, your bones are gaining density and your muscles are building.  Plus, you are a woman and you are developing breasts and hips.  126 lbs was most likely too low.

Your eating habits are obviously poor however.  You need a MINIMUM of 1200 calories per day.  It's good that you are exercising daily - make sure you are getting into your target heart range so your body is working as efficiently as it can.

Your clothes may be fitting the same because of where you have put on weight.  Besides which, most clothes have some give.  I still wear the same size clothes now as I did a year ago and I'm 50lbs heavier.  It's not unusual as well for you to perceive yourself at 126 even though you've gained weight.  A test you can try is ask a friend How Do I Look (like that show on style network) make sure you ask someone who will be both honest and kind.

Not eating a sufficient number of calories will cause your body to go into starvation mode, basically meaning, you will lose weight but it will be muscle first then fat...the problem with that is, the second you start to eat, even a proper diet you gain weight very rapidly and your body will continue to store every calorie for it's next "starvation cycle". When you eat the appropriate number of calories on a daily basis your body will take time to adjust then when it feels there will no longer be a starvation cycle it will begin burning the calories at a normal rate.

You basically need to stick to between 1200 and 1400 calories ( dependent on your level of activity and metabolic rate), exercise on a regular basis to help develop muscle (which burns more calories) and drink 8 to 10 glasses of water to keep hydrated. Once your body doesn't feel like it's starving then being filled to bursting it will balance out and with exercise you will return to your optimal weight. Then you will feel "full" most of the day and binges will become a thing of the past and you can then treat yourself from time to time with much less and see no negative repercussions. Also, eating foods that are complex carbohydrates help because they digest slower and release sugars without the up and crash you get with simple carbs.

As others have said, muscle tissue weighs more than fat so a very fit person might weigh more at size 8 (for example) than one who has less muscle, yet both are the same size. A bodybuilder woman might be a size 2 and weigh 150 lbs but the same non-bodybuilder woman might weigh 120 pounds. The best person to decide what is a good weight for you is your doctor. Take about a month's copy of your eating and exercising habits to them and they will help you establish a good and healthy way to not only lose weight, gain strength and endurance, but also not be hungry all the time.

Hope this helps...
