could someone please tell me why.....
my eat meter and my burn meter are at exactly the same total? My eat meter says I should be eating 1700 calories, and my burn meter says the estimated total for my day is also 1700.
What's the gig?
Are you trying to maintain? If you are trying to lose, then go to tools and click on the "calorie target" tab. There, CC will figure an appropriate eat meter amount for you based on how you selected the options. Then you can go to "edit settings" under your photo on the "My account" page and it will bring you to your account settings. At the very bottom you will see the "target daily calories" and you can enter what CC suggested. You can also change it daily to account for extra eating on exercise days, etc. The number you enter there will be the one that appears at the top of your eat meter as a daily goal.
Remember, eat at least 1200 and make sure the deficit is between 500-1000 from the number at the top of your burn meter.
Example, I set my eat meter to 1590 today because my burn total will be 2090.
2090 burned -1590 eaten gives me a deficit of 500. If I maintain that deficit through the week (7days x -500 cal = -3500) I should lose 1lb this week (1lb=3500 cal).
Thanks, but I just don't understand why my eat meter is set at 1700. I'm confused.
you set the eat meter calorie target number. To change that number, go into your account settings:
My Account --> Edit Settings (underneath your picture/avatar). Scroll down the page until you see Target Daily Calories. Change your target number to whatever you wish it to be, SUBMIT, and that will save your changes
so question. my eat total is 1250 a day. but then my burn meter says like 1900 (dont know exact number at this moment, just a hypothetical) does that mean i have to burn 1900 calories that day, and is there really a human being out there that exercises worth 1900 calories a day???????
if your burn meter says 1900, then this is the estimated number of calories you will burn every 24 hours, based on the information you input into the system (height, current weight, sex, age, activity level, hours of sleep, etc) -- PLUS any exercise/activity calories you added in.
And yes -- there are plenty of athletes that exercise more than 1900 calories per day, but not many of us "regular" people.

I do, once a week on Saturdays, and twice a week when my schedule allows. Other days it is between 500 and 1,000.
you actually work out 1900 calories in two days, not counting in the normal calorie burn during the day? are you human, you must have abs, butt and thighs of steel! LOL. good for you, i would rather be shot in the eye. LOL

Yes, I am that crazy. I've been doing it for many years.
I should have my head examined.
Well, I should, anyway, for all manner of reasons, but also for this one.
what is the routine? like all cardio. I dont want to burn 1900 a day cause then ill have to eat like 5000 calories a week, and as much as i love food, i dont want to do that, but do you mind if i "steal" some ideas for cardio on weekends from you. I need a new routine....
the burn meter progresses throughout the day!!! look at the top number to see where it will be at the end of the day!!!!
Hi there,
Can you guys tell me what you do at the gym to burn 1000 to 1900 calories? I do 25 mins of vigorous elliptical and 35 mins of weight training, but that only adds up to about 400 to 500 calories. Are you guys working out for hours a day? Just wondering if I should do something different at the gym.
Thanks!
Oops! Sorry, forgot to post my stats -
Female, 35 years
5'1", currently 113 llbs, goal 105lbs
Target food intake 1300 calories per day
Burn rate with workouts 1890 per day
Currently 18% body fat, goal 14-15% body fat

You should be eating more than 5000 calories a week no matter male or female and age. Even if you are trying to lose weight. An adult woman should consume 8,400 calories minimum in 7 days and an adult male should consume a minimum of 10,500 in a 7 day period!

This isn't an answer at the moment, more a pondering. I've been pondering this a long time now....
I'm always really skeptical of those kinds of estimates. I estimate really low myself on my activities. So who knows? Maybe I am burning a ton more than I thought. That would help to explain why I can eat so much and lose weight so fast. And it's certainly possible, given how hard and long I push myself some days, and also given the figures for calories burned they discussed on the Today Show the other day when it comes to Olympic athletes. I'm not an athlete, but some days I work out like one. But I still wonder about the estimates this site and many others provide. I just really find it hard to believe that many calories can be burned that fast, no matter how hard you push yourself—and especially if you are small.

I suspect she meant 5,000 a day.
I def meant 5000 a day, LOL. thanks for catching that.
