Can someone recommend a good fitness watch?
I have a pedometer but I don't think it works that great. While trying to find a good one online i came across watches that show the # of steps you take, distance, hate rate monitor during work out, and calories burned. I would like to get one but I'm not sure which to chose. Does anyone have one? Or is there one someone can recommend? I use the treadmill 3 - 4 days a week with a mix of walk and running for an hour and the other days I use my Wii fit from anywhere from 1 - 2 hrs. I just got the New Gold's Gym CaridoWork out. I'll be trying that today.
Any help would be appreciated
The standard is probably the Polar HRM though I think a combination of an Ipod and a Nike+ is potentially also useful for walking/running.
The downside to that is thatyou probably won't see much of anything in the way of accuracy while doing the Wii fit or anything that doesn't actually involve running; the HRM is more versatile.
The Garmin 305 or 405 are both good watches but also geared more towards running or biking. The Polar is a good choice if you are just looking for a HRM.
I have a polar HRM and I use it when I do my wii fit. I think it works well with it. the model I have is an f6. You can find them for pretty cheap on ebay. I got mine for $70.
I have a Garmin 305 and use it with a foot pod (accessory) when running on a treadmill and for outdoors, it has a GPS function that tracks your workout distance, and displays it all on a map in the tracking charts on the computer program that comes with it. It also has a heart rate monitor (included.)There are a ton of other features too, but none that really apply to the actual question here.
I also use it to track my bicycle workouts.
I absolutely love it. However, it is a bit of an investment and you may want something a lot less expensive. I can't recommend anything else because I have never used anything else.
