Can someone recommend a good moving company
I'll be moving from Maryland to Georgia at the end of the month. Has anyone had a good experience with a mover? Someone that they would recommend?
Nobody?
U-Haul and a half dozen friends did the trick for me. I don't have any experience with a real mover. A friend of mine was happy with Two Guys and a Truck through a local franchise but I don't know how wide spread they are.
Nope. My big moves were handled by the military, and I don't remember the company they used when we moved to Maryland. I can do some checking for you though.
Thanks. I've ruled out the U-haul way to go. I'll check to see if Two Guys are in this area. I did see Two Marines & a Truck.
If they only do local moves, ask them to recommend an out of state hauler.
Also try "Bekins".
Sorry! When I moved out here I had my dad, bro, a couple friends and a U-Haul.
How 'bout I save you some grief and tell you who NOT to move with? Stay far, far FAR away from Grabel. We had an absolutely horrible experience with them.
It has been a half dozen years or so, but had a better-than-average experience with Stevens on one of our moves.
Thank you.
I've been in this house for 15 years and I don't think I'd need a moving company, I'd just need a very large dumpster and a suitcase.

I second the stay away form Grabel vote. They weren't terrible, but they did lose a few of my things and told me for almost two months that I would have them 'in the next few days'.
Welcome to the Peach State! Where abouts are you moving?
I've read some news articles about some horrible moving companies... make sure you get the most accurate quote you can, sometimes they'll give you a rouch estimate based on how many rooms in your house or something really vague, and then after they load all of your stuff they give you the "real" price, which might be like twice as much, and then they hold your belongings hostage until you pay their outrageous fees.
** its Two Men and a Truck**
I have used them now... three times and each time have been fairly to well pleased. They are middle of the road price wise or a bit lower than most, have good track records, and can usually negotiate. I always get a not to exceed price from them. But do your research-- it is a franchise and different ones are apparently not managed as well.
I'm moving to Sugar Hill. I believe its considered a subburb of Atlanta although its way out of town.
You will like that area. I am in Peachtree City about a 1/2 hour south of Atlanta.
Bekins, Altair Moving Systems, Corrigan, New World Van Lines....I work for a third party moving company. I can help!
Thanks I'll give them all a call.
I just moved from Georgia to Pennsylvania. We used Nationwide (their Moving Cost branch) stay far away. Especially if you encounter a guy named "John Nieuwerner." He lied to me about when my move was coming, about the weighting of our furniture, etc. Basically, I had to move a day earlier than expected and pay about $500 move. We had to deal with their legal department and got a nominal settlement from them. So not worth the hassle!
