Can someone tell me

How exactly the burn meter works and what the numbers mean. The calorie meter I figured out but not quite so sure of the burn meter. Also I work from home and often spend 14 hours or more at my computer, typing, reading and doing other various tasks that an author does. I 've been using the exercise tool but it seems like an awful lot of calories being burnt and I'm not sure it's accurate or more appropriately if I am logging correctly. Can anyone help?

The burn meter, the big number in the middle of the blue box is the amount of calories you've burned today just being you.  The smaller number above (still in the blue box) is the total amount you will have burned by the end of today just being you.

The big number changes if you've added anything into your exercise log.  I don't know if I've ever noticed if the little number changes as well.

As far as logging in what you've done for your work...I personally sit at a computer all day long with some walking from office to office, cubicle to cubicle, filing...regular office stuff.  I never log that in my exercise log.  The only time I add anything I've done at work into my log is if its something extraordinary...ie: filing all day long with no sitting, packing boxes for EOY...etc.  That's how I choose to do it though.  I consistently log my actual exercises though....cardio, weights...etc.

Oh, and BTW, WELCOME TO CC!!!  Smile  I hope to see you around and good luck on your goals!

The burn meter automatically figures the # of calories that you burn per day based on your activity level.  And a lot of those are just for surviving this life thing.

For what you're doing (authoring, etc), you may want to click on "account settings" and put your activity level as sedentary (and it will probably pop up between 1200-2000 or so calories depending on your weight and current height -- which may seem like a lot, but its what your body burns just hangin' out).  That will give you your your base rate of burn for that meter.   Then if you do go for a walk, or shopping, or hit the gym, manually add those activities to your activity log.  When you do get up and move, that will also give you a few extra calories to play around with on the eat meter too Wink  As the day progresses, it will automatically update everytime you refresh the page as to  how many calories you've burned.  At midnight it will reset to 0 and start for the next day.

Hope that helps at least a little!  And welcome to your new healthier lifestyle!  Cool

Thank you so much :) I agree I don't think I will log that stuff anymore just my actual exercises hehe I was like woah I burn major calories lol :)  Thanks for the welcome and quick reply. The burn meter makes more sense to me now :)
