ok, i have read alot of forums on here.....  you need 1200 cal a day, just to keep you alive.... rite? ok  that is just laying in bed, no eating, personal hygene, no exercise, or anything... rite?   or does that include showering, personal hygene, ect.... (i have read that 1200 includes those) ok i got mine set on sedentary, just what does this consist of???? i am slowly getting excerise into my daily routine..... and trying to build up my workout, but health problems does slow me down... so i am going slow....  so what i am wondering just what do i put into my activity log??? just my workouts????  like today i pushed myself to walk 1 mile, it took me 25 min. to do so..... do i just log that?? or do i also log my house cleaning, personal care, ect??

thanks and good luck to all of you!!

Well, I see the problem and I honestly dont know the true answer but I THINK what your suppose to log in is the active things that you dont do everyday. Like the walking, add that because you really didn't have to walk as a part of your daily shedule. If you clean everyday then no but if you only do it like 2 or 3 times a week then you can put that in there. I think the basic you dont had in like showers or cooking but like yard work or vacumming( unless you do it everyday as a part of your normal rountine) you can put. I think it means dont add in the things you do everyday that are simple, showers, but add in things oyu do mabye a few times a week, mowing grass. Defintitley put walks on there though cause that counts ! That is like a worout. Hope this helped and not made you more confused.

1, 200 calories is the recommended amount you should really not go below if you want to successfully lose weight on a long term basis. Lower than this, and most people will find their body will go into starvation mode.. where you will initially lose weight, but will then stabilize and your body will basically hang onto every single calorie you give it. Only to gain weight like crazy if you eat over that amount until your body stops freaking out and realises that a decent amount of food is a regular occourance and not a rarity.

If you have completed your profile, then your burn meter is set to show how many calories you will burn in a normal day... that is all day and all night. You burn calories while you sleep too (and the counter resets at midnight). So, that includes breathing in and out, eating, getting out of bed and personal hygiene and basic sedentary stuff like watching TV or sitting at a computer.

The upper number on the burn meter is what you are expected to burn during a normal 24 hours.

The lower number on the burn meter is the amount of calories you have burned so far during that same 24 hours.

If you add in any exercise or activity, both numbers on your burn meter will go up to include the calories burned in that activity.

This is great. But setting yourself on Sedentary means that it can be very time consuming to add in every single little thing you do.. walking to the car... shopping for food.. preparing the evening meal, washing up, folding laundry etc. So unless you are literally lying down in bed or on the sofa all day and all night, I suggest you set yourself on Light Activity.

That works for me best. I have myself set on Light Activity. This means that I do not have to log when I go shopping and if I am folding laundry or doing light housework or yard work like sweeping or polishing. If I do not get a little out of breath while doing it, then it does not count as exercise for me.

This way, I ONLY need to log in my planned exercise, such as going to the gym, walking on my treadmill or when I go hiking.

Or if I do anything much more vigorous around the home than usual, such as heavy duty yard work (shoveling snow, digging, clearing gutters) or spring cleaning (flipping mattresses, scrubbing walls and clearing out cupboards etc) then I DO add those activities.

Sorry this is so long, I know how confusing this was when I was trying to figure all this out.

Hope that helps!

thanks guys!! i have read so much here i was getting pretty confused!! thanks for explaining it to me!

good luck!
