Something similar to Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig without having to use their food?

I would like to do something like Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig but don't want to have to use prepackaged foods.  Does anyone know of anything like this?

How about cooking up all your meals for the week on Sunday?

Thanks but you misunderstood.  I'm looking for some kind of accountability.  Thinking that going somewhere once or twice a week might help.

Ah, I thought you were only speaking of the food.  My bad.

What about Overeaters Anonymous

There are a number of challenges and groups here on CC if you're looking for an accountabilibuddy.  You could also check to see if there are other CC-ers in your area for meetups and such.

I have found a couple of groups on here but they always seem to just disappear as people drop out.   I need something that I know is always going to be there.  It's hard enough for me to stay with it without my 'support group' quitting.

I think that people stick with the challenges more than the groups - you could find one in Games and Challenges (or start your own).

Where do I find challenges on here?

weight watchers

Wieght Watchers is the best! Buy their monthly pass online and save $$ and get to use their online tools. (I don't work for them). Weight Watchers has been one of the top weight loss tools in this country forever! Their system works very very well and their meetings are supportive and informative. Good luck!

Look into clean/balanced eating. Shop for the week, plan your meals ahead and cook on Saturday or Sunday for the week. Don't need a special diet or pre-packaged meals. I pack a lunch everyday at work. I plan the lunch based on clean/balanced nutrition. I get everything I can ready on Sunday and pack in Tupperware. I plan dinners for the week and do them ahead if I can. Crockpot and casserole meals are easy to plan ahead.

If you write in your journal here on CC, it will give you personal accountability.  Let's face it...you don't KNOW those people in meetings, etc., anyway.  Ultimately, yourself is the ONLY one you should be accountable to.

And sign up for the newsletter from whfoods.org. (I think that's the correct web address.  You can google World's Healthiest Foods to find it.) They send out a newsletter every day, which includes a recipe.  Check it for calorie count, though, because some of them are not low-cal.  But poke around the website.  It has a wealth of information on how to eat a healthy wholefoods diet.  If you follow that kind of advice, you'll actually be ahead of NutriSystem!

p.s. When I use the word "diet", I mean an eating regime or "food plan".  I mean it as in "ancient man subsisted on a diet of nuts & berries".  Laughing
