Something stung my foot Saturday night.

Remember my heel that has been hurting? So its still off/on again and I'm still trying to take it easy.. but the side of that heel, right on the very edge, I noticed yesterday that it has a bump like a bee sting, but it is still there (with a small black speck in the middle - part of stinger still there but I can't get it out because none is above the skin?)

So now I can't tell if it hurts from the bruised heel (or whatever it was) or if its from the sting.

Its not that painful or anything, I just found it very odd that I got stung right where my heel was hurting the most - but I have inspected that spot on a regular basis, checking the swelling and bruising (not bad) and I know I didn't have the sting until sometime saturday. (yes, its possible I was stung and didn't feel it saturday. hahaha)

splinter?  stepped on a pencil?  thorn?  I had that once in my toe.  I think my body absorbed it b/c it never came out.  i was like, 9.  I stepped on something in the grass.  My toe hurt for days!

Wrap it up in several ace bandages, elevate it, and insist your hubby and MIL bring you what you desire.  If that doesn't work, cry.

Well, it's just a thought...

My mother always used a hot soak in Epsom salts for such things.  It is supposed to "draw" the bad stuff out.  Personally, I would think that icing the area to try to shrink the skin so maybe you can get hold of the stinger or splinter would be best.  I've also heard of using something like rubber cement to pull splinters out.

Hmmm, CDC hasn't posted anything for a while.

*pictures her rolling around the newly steamed carpets in her house, all swoll up from anaphylactic shock*

Not sure if this is related in any way...  but are you sure it's a sting?

I stepped on a big broken glass jar several years ago.  I cleaned the cut out and it healed up pretty well. Never went to the doctor although it probably should have had stitches.

Then a year or so later I start getting this ache in the bottom of my foot and eventually a hunk of glass worked it's way out.  It had apparently been in there the whole time and my body finally rejected it... just took a long time for it to push it out.

i have a speck of gravel in the heel of my hand.  it's been there at least 30 years (i can't remember when i first noticed it).  it's this little grey-black spot under the skin.  it used to be hard, but now i can hardly feel it.  i think it's working its way further in rather than out.

You can go get drawing salve at a pharmacy or some place like walmart. Slather some of that on there and wrap your foot in gauze or an ace bandage. if it is a stinger or splinter it should help draw it out.

Have you tried soaking it to see if it'll come out?  Maybe that's why you've been so stabby?

It sounds to me like you have a plantars wart.  I had 6 in one foot several years ago.  It feels like a sting or like you have glass in your foot, in fact, that's what I thought it was.  Anyhoo, get yourself some epsom salt.  Fill a container with water as hot as you can stand it and add about a half cup of epsom salt & allow it to dissolve.  Soak your foot in it until it cools off. After about a week of soaking, the thing you can see will come to the surface and you can get it out with tweezers.  It's like a little piece of gravel.  Good luck!!

Might also be a spider bite, in which case it should get a little worse and then go away.

good idea.. might try tonight. It feels a lot better today though even though there is still a bump, there is a black spot of stinger still there that I'd feel better if it was out.

the thought of this makes me feel like puking. plus there is a little bit of stinger in there and no fang marks. it is definitely a sting.
