What about the 20 somethings...

Quote  |  Reply

This forum seems to have a lot of posts by/for teens... where are the 20 somethings?

I just realized I'm creeping up on the second half of my 20s, I turn 26 in February. February is a fun month for us, our wedding anniversary is the 4th, my husband's birthday is the 12th (he'll be 32) and then my birthday on the 17th. I can't believe I'm about to have my 2nd wedding anniversary AND that I'm about to turn 26, time is flying!

I'm 26, married for 5 years....and gotta get motivated to lose weight!  After marriage, it's sad (but true) It's so easy to gain weight.  I lost close to 50 lbs before the wedding and have gained that and more since. :(

What is everyone's take on alcohol in their diet?

I'm 23 with be 24 in March. My fiance of 3 years will be 24 in February. Um... just finished college and received Bachelor's in Business Administration. Will start master's soon. Happily engaged.. to scared to ruin it with marriage. Finallly starting to lose weight!! (down 7 lbs in my first week). and my legs are absolutely killing me right now. My take on alcohol is I have some when we have gatherings but try to have it fit in to my daily budget or just exercise a lot more the next day to make me feel better about it.

Does anyone know how many calories are in a regular frozen margarita with salt?

Stephaniebl-  You arn't going to like this:

margarita (2 ounces tequila, 4.5 ounces Jose Cuervo margarita mix, salt): 27 carb grams, 246 calories.

For all of you who think you look too young, enjoy it!  I used to think that, too.  Now I am thankful for people who think I look young.  :)  When I get carded somewhere, I always tell them thank you.  :D  Then they look at my license and chuckle with me.

WOW!!! I think I better just put green tea in a beer bottle from now on if I dont' want to be bothered by being called a slacker at our game nights LOL!! Thanks for the information. I didn't think it was THAT  much!
ya I look about 17, it can some times make my job interesting when I respond to something like a bar fight and you get, many drunken comments about who let the kid in and what not.

Hey Sarah, glad you started this one!

I'm 25 and am actually finally looking my age, however up to about a year ago I would get mistaken for a 19 or 20-year-old all the time. I think because I lost weight, I have less of the "baby" face I used to have and my hair's grown out quite a bit.

Stephaniebl: The "green tea in a beer bottle" comment made me laugh-- good luck with that one.

Sarah, I turn 26 in Feb too! :)

I turn 27 in March.  I just graduated with my bachelors in Acct in July and am looking for a job.  Planning on going back for my masters next fall. I'm single and childless except for my furbaby.  I've been told I look older and younger than my age...typically younger by those that don't know me, older by those that do.  I'm pretty responsible by nature, so I think that has a lot to do with the difference.  I had a waitress the other night offer everybody wine samples, and then looked at me and told me I wasn't old enough.  I got carded for smokes too, even when nobody else did.

I'm at 158.8 as of this morning, and am hoping for 135 by my birthday.  125 is my ultimate goal, but thats not necessarily an exact number...I'm going to determine my maintenance point by how I feel.

And as for the alcohol thing, I quit drinking when my alcoholic brother decided to quit drinking, and even though he started drinking again, I really just didn't miss it.

i'm 29. sigh. fewer than three months and i will be banished from this club.

single, professional, with two cats and a poker playing boyfriend.

22, 23 in february.

There shall be no banishment of 29 year olds.  None.  We will be 29 FOREVER.

I, moderator person, have spoken.  No banishing people who might not be in their 20s before too much longer...

:)

I'm 27 ... Most people think i'm a lot younger though- they usually think I'm around 23ish...  I'm new to the group and after suffering from ED since I was 17... I'm looking for people who know what it's like...

I'm working on maintaining my weight... and at the moment- I'm lapsing... so I really need some support. I don't want to go back to the way it was... But it's so hard...

Are there any 20 somethings who are in the same boat here?

b

Busybee- I too am trying to stop my bulimic ways. I am 26 (will be 27 in March) and get told constantly that I look like I am 17 or so. It is particularly annoying at casinos where I have actually been carded up to 5 times in one night! I have joined CC to try to get a hold of my calories to see if that will lessen the possibility of a binge. I wish I could say that I haven't binged since I joined, but at least I haven't done anything negative to "make up" for the binges. I am trying at least...
I turned 23 last month. I am a nurse and I think it's funny when I walk in my patients rooms and introduce myself as their nurse. I get the funniest looks! Some of my co-workers that I talk to occasionally still think I'm in high school. The other day, one of my patient's husbands was like "So when did you graduate high school?" When I said 2003 he seemed content, but about 10 minutes later he said "So you went straight through?" I told him yes, and about 5 minutes later he was like "So you took summer school or something??". He couldn't get over the fact that I was so young and taking care of his wife and baby I guess!! :)
Im 20 but always get mistaken for like 16 or 17 .... i must show my id all the time. at first it was annoying, but now i embrace it and realize it will be wonderful when I get older that people think Im younger. It is much better to be mistaken for being younger than ur actual ahe than older i always say :)
21 here!  I coach basketball and sometimes my girls tell me I could dress in their uniform and just blend right in haha.  Could be worse I guess!  So how do you all who are trying to diet deal with alcohol?  I try not to drink very often 1-2 times per month but I feel like those 800 calorie nights really hinder my dieting..

Well, I try to stick with the alcoholic beverages with less calories like a gin & tonic or something. Rum and Diet coke is supposed to be pretty low too I think. There are several websites that list the calorie content for alcoholic beverages.

I will be 26 in July, I have a son who will be 7 in June. I am currently a 1st year college student who has been fat my entire life. I am currently thinner than I have been since I was like . . . . 10.

I keep the cal down pretty easy . . . I don't drink anymore (I used to be an alcoholic and a pot head) or do anything real bad . . . . besides my cigs, and I am trying to quit. There is my disabled mother, she is the chocolate monster . . . . she bought 12 boxes of candy right after I started my diet, I have to watch them all on it - so they don't eat too much and get sick. Thanks mom!
