30 somethings size 16+
Aanyone interested in keeping each other motivated? I am 36, 5'3 and size 18. I refuse to weigh myself until I get down to at least a size 16 again. Why beat myself up even more than I already do just knowing I'm bigger than I've ever been in the clothes department?
So, let's get started! I'm choosing better food choices (limited whole grain bread, fresh fruit and veggies, lean protein, limited portion sizes on sweets, etc.) and trying to get my walking in. What is anyone else doing?
Well, here I go. 34 yo, 5'7", 205 lbs, size 18+. Sometimes I get lucky and get into a 16, but it depends on the maker. (smile)
I really have had an extremely hard time loosing weight since my hysterectomy 5 years ago. I'm not motivated to exercise and all. I work every 3rd day for 24 hours, so usually when I get home after work all I want to do is sit or sleep. I try very hard not to by cleaning, but it gets harder.
Just starting on here to see if I have support and can actually put in what I do and what I eat that I will see something in numbers that will motivate my mind to excercise. (Weird huh!)
There is alot that I don't know about counting calories, but I have nothing to loose, so here we go!
PS-You guys sound like you are doing great! Pass on the good carma...I'm going to need it. (smile)
Well Hello newtck! Gosh every 3rd day 24 hrs? What do you do? If you dont mind me asking? That would be hard. But anywho~ I would think being 34 and 205 lbs and 5'7" is enough motivation to start doing something. You dont have to go all freaky and go hard core. Just take things slow. I have learned alot about calories so far and I am still learning about them. Serving size is another big thing. If you can start to cut your serving sizes down and figure out where you would like to be for consuming calories. I go about 1200-1400. There are lots of nice people at cc and dont be afraid to snoop around and you should logg your food on here and see how many calories you consume. I started to walk for 30 mins a night 5 days aweek with my son, and the last week or more I have used my machine ( dont really know what it is called, but I walk on it ) I will get on it while I am watching my shows! Never thought I would be doing that. But any little bit helps. I started to watch my weight on 9/15/08 and as of today I have lost 6lbs. I wish it was alot more but it does take time to loose it. It took a while to gain it and it will take a while to get RID of it! So I wish you best of luck here!! Have a great day!!

When I need motivation, I come on this site and peek around, mostly looking for pictures of success stories and that motivates me. I even went on Biggest Loser's site one time and that motivated me as well. I'm a visual learner though so it may not work the same for everyone.
Update on my progress:
I'm on my last day of Phase 1 of South Beach Diet, which I found on this site as well. I have done well, only had one small slip the day before I got my period I needed chocolate! So I had a medium sized bowl of ice cream with chocolate. Didn't work like I wanted it to though. I went around tasting one bite out of cookies I had in the house for my kids and anything else I could find with any smidge of chocolate and it really didn't satisfy. What's up with that!
Well, my dear ladies. You all keep plugging away. Get a picture of your future self up on your fridge for motivation! Post a sticky note on your bathroom mirror of the reasons why you want to eat healthy today.

In many of my postings I've mentioned the maid of honor dress for my sister's wedding that I am trying to fit into. I finally had the fitting on Thursday. I'm happy to say...it fit!!!!! However, I must admit it just barely fit, truly just barely. If it wasn't for the nine pounds I lost, I don't think I would have gotten it zipped up. Well, I still have a couple of weeks before the wedding and another fitting, so hopefully I can lose a couple more pounds.
