Do you sometimes feel like saying "it's my diet so get lost!"
I've been on diet 2 weeks ago and I eat homemade sandwiches and yogurt everyday for lunch. Lately I bought a box of mixed baby greens so I decided to add that to my lunch as well. So 2 days ago, i had a sandwich and green salad for lunch. Yesterday since I had toast in the morning I wasn't very hungry at lunch, so I only ate the sandwich and saved the green salad for later in the afternoon. One girl in the office saw me at lunch eating only a sandwich and said" Oh, you're only eating THAT?" in a very mean way, as if for my size it's impossible to eat only a sandwich and feel full on it. Then at around 4 pm when I was eating the salad and this girl saw me and said " So NOW you're hungry eh?" and walked away.
I really wanted to ask her to get off my face. It's just annoying when people are making comments on what you eat. It's none of their business. I don't need their support just don't make comments on it as if you're as expert because you think dieting is stupid.
Sorry I just need to vent!

If you don't have to interact with this girl very often, go ahead and tell her to keep her nose out of your lunch. It's YOUR food, and YOUR body and it's NONE of her business!
If you do have to interact with her often, you could politely confront her and ask her what she meant by her comments. Or eat in private. (Not fair to you but a lot more comfortable arrangement if you see her on a daily basis.)

Sounds like she has a touch of the green-eyed monster.
If she does this often, next time she says something like that, look her in the eye and say 'Do you mind?' ... She won't know how to reply and hopefully she will get the hint.

My boyfriend's favorite line is "are you eating again?!" I eat small amts through out the day so I guess it seems,at least to him, that I am eating all the time. You know what I say?: A big fat WHATEVER. I have lost 25.5 pounds "eating all the time". You eat what you feel comfortable with and what gets you where you want to be.
I get super-pissed when my roommate, a 5'6" beanpole at 115lbs, gives me dirty looks or gets an attitude when we're at the grocery store and he's buying potato chips and cookies and big cuts of fatty meat and soda and anything he wants, because he can certainly eat it all and probably lose weight, while I buy fresh fruits and veggies, check labels, forego all junk food in any form, and load up on cases of bottled water. What is that all about?!
I want to shout the title of this thread at him every time it happens.

Oh my gosh, gomui! That girl is so awful! I know people just like that, although their snide comments are necessarily related to what I eat. Those type of comments kind of remind me... well, she's being a smart@$$, really. They definitely sound like the comments of someone who is insecure.
Knowing me, I would probably go into this long explanation with her about how I'm losing weight and I've found that "A" works for me while "B" doesn't and that recent polls suggest trying "C" but that the helpful people at CC disagreed that "C" was a good idea, and I trusted them more than some stupid poll. :) Seriously. I wouldn't even be mean about it. She would probably never comment again.

Some people just have to open their mouths because they can't keep their ignorant minds to themselves.
Next time you need to look at her, smile ever so sweetly and quietly tell her to work at fixing her own life cause your's is just fine.

Good grief! How rude! My boss is sometimes rude about what I eat. I'll have heated up something I cooked at home, and she'll walk into the room, wrinkle up her nose, and say "what is that smell?" I let it go, because I know she doesn't intend to be offensive. Some people have no clue about how what they are saying actually sounds.
Ignore rude people as much as you can. There will always be rude people in the world, and it's doubtful that anything you say or do will change their ways. You know that you are doing the right thing for you, if rude people can't see that, forget them!
I hate when folks assume that if you are overweight, you must eat like a pig. I have always been big, but I've never been a huge eater. I've gotten comments like the one you recieved when I wasn't even dieting. You know how it is. Us big folks must eat bags of doughnuts everyday! *sheesh*

The one thing I notice most is that everyone has comments on what you should be doing on your diet.
I tell people that I am trying to lose weight, and everyone has advice. "Oh I lost 20 pounds taking some pill, or I only ate and lost a lot of weight"
The fact is that only you know your own body, not anyone else. I was embarrassed at first by my changed eating habits too because all of the stupid things other people said, but I stopped caring what they said.
UGH how so very rude! People really need to know when to keep their opinions to themselves. Is that girl perfect bodied or something? Especially to double comment! She must have really low self esteem and is on the look out to find other peoples flaws to boost herself up. *cheers to salads and sandwiches for lunch!*
UGH my family does that
its comments like that that drove me to becoming and staying overweight.
"Oh, look at that, the bread is gone, i bet she ate it all. ugh"
or maybe...
"Are those prepackaged salads hers?" "psh, yea except that she eats 9 of them in one day!"
or somtimes...
"I dont know if youve noticed, but somtimes you seem to snack after dinner, i think you should stop that :-\ ... im not sure if your ACTUALLY hungry"
GASP! um excuse me!?
yea, so i got fed up one day, about a week ago.
and I just said. "actually i really would like it if you would stop commenting on what I eat, it does not make people comfortable when you talk about their eating habits"
or somthing of that nature, looking them in the eye, and walked away
they havnt said anything since. :-)

Hey Gomui
IGNORE those people. Hard as it may be --- cause we do seem to be surrounded by them, and I'd like to know why!
Be true to yourself and know that you are on a personal journey to a better (--------) <-- fill in the blank. That girl that throws comments at you obviously is not a very happy soul and the only way to make herself feel good is to make others feel as bad as she does. If you want to eat your sandwich and then eat your salad later -- YOU GO!!!

My mom would do that. She meant well, but whenever she found out about a new attempt at losing weight she'd be OVERLY 'helpful' and watch every bite I eat x_X
That drives me batty.
My husband just lets me be, although he does try to be supportive. Once in a while he's like 'Oh come on, you dont need to write down CARROTS, those dont have calories!' Needless to say, he's 300lbs ;)
That girl just sounds jealous. I dont get what peoples problem is with others trying to improve their life, it's like they're worried or scared. Scared perhaps that they no longer get to feel superior because they're 'better'.

At work, I put in sugar free syrup in my drinks and this girl is always like "put in the full sugar ones so it tastes good at least!". This girl is somewhat bigger than me and doesnt care what she eats but has a very awesome attitude and doesnt care what she looks like (she is pretty).. and somehow gets ALL the guys lol... but I am not happy with how I look and 'try' to eat better. I should probably take pointers though about her attitude. Not with eating whatever and being ok with my weight.. but maybe be happy with what I look like now instead of 'ho hum...i look like crap...i dont deserve happyness'.
eurghhh this drives me crazy too! I take a home made lunch with either salad or veggies included everyday, and people won't stop bangingon about how healthy i am all the time, and it doesn't seem like in a good way either. i had pasta the other day (part of my new diet plan), and my manager was gobsmacked.
They all know I go to the gym as well, and are always telling me to cut it down or that i don't need to lose weight. And although i am trying to lose weight, people just don't seem to understand that eating healthy and excercise are part of a permanant lifestyle, not just something you do when you're trying to lose weight. I wish these people would just worry about their own bodies!!!

People like this little darling get enjoyment out of pointing out others problems and rubbing their faces in it, probably to distract her from her own problems. If you reply with a rude comment or show her that she is hurting you, you're only fueling her fire.
Just think of how silly she is being the next time she comments and smile. When she sees that her attempt at making you feel bad has failed, she'll most likely stop.
HAH, sorry, didn't mean to ramble and make this into a psychologically analyzed reply!
-- Oh, and congradulations on eating a healthy lunch! I see alot of people just pop in some chicken pot (death) pies in the microwave and chow down. Don't let anyone steer you from your healthier lifestyle. :)

Double Uggh! I don't really undestand the basis for her comments ? since when is a sandwhich not enough for lunch? And why is it a problem to eat a salad later in the day. Many people do that on diets or off diets. She's moronic. Fire her. ;-)
gomui--sounds like the bully mentality to me. It's a major sign of insecurity. She makes herself feel better by being mean to you. Next time just tell her to mind her own business.
I have my mother who, for the most part, is very supportive but i tend to eat a lot. My diet's 70% veg tho so it's not doing any harm but whenever i sit down with a massive salad she'll say with this saracastic undertone "hungry?" and she does it every time. It drives me batty.
