How could somthing so good be bad. . .

Yam Fries

Any idea how many calories they pick up in the deep frier? I'm going out for drinks and appies tonight for the first time in three weeks. I've already resigned myself to light beer, I will say no to popcorn shrimp, but I want the fries.

Could you get them baked?  I know, that would defeat the purpose Surprised of getting the fries.  An order of Supersized fries from McDonands (198 grams, or just shy of 7 oz) is 610 calories.  You sure you want them that bad?

Yeah, sweet potato fries are really good.

I have made them myself before which helps a bit since I can control the portions and whatnot better.

Maybe cooking them in a healthier oil or something? Or, a smaller amount of fries?

I agree with the above posts. Why not bake them instead, and substitute the regular greasy oil for something like pam oil.

I think the key words are "going out", so I don't think baking them at home is an option. :)

Eat some fries!

Eat light the rest of the day and enjoy half the portion of fries :)

Yes there are healthier ways to make them at home, but you're going out to eat and the fun of it is the socialization.

Well I ate the fries, and damn, were they good. Hardest thing I've done in a month was pushing the basket away after 1 cup of fries. I figure a cup of fries is like a cup of yam cubes plus about as much oil as is in the same amount of regular fries, I called it 28 grams. Also switched out my beer for vodka & club soda (I know, how girly) I think I came in at about target for the day.
