Soon to drop below 200lb!
Hi! i was wondering if anyone out there was like me - eying that 200 number and planning to drop below soon.
I started this year at 220lb and am now at 209lb. I can't wait to get below 200lb - what a huge achievement that'll be! I'd love to do it in less than two months and thought others might have a similar goal!
I'd love to share the journey and celebrate with each of you when you drop below!
Ahh, me too! I started at 225 and now I'm down to 207. I had been plateaud for a couple of months, too. I had gotten away from this site and had stopped logging my foods, and over the past few weeks FIVE pounds crept back on! But now I've returned with renewed determination and I've lost back 3 of those 5 pounds.
I'm like you, I just want to see a number that starts with "1" instead of "2" .... for the first time in over 10 years!
We can do it!! And I think that 2 months is more than reasonable. I was hoping to have my 8 pounds off by my birthday, which is April 7. So let's do this thing.
Great to meet you!
AAAAHHH! Five pounds back on! Why can't it get lost and stay lost!?! That must be so frustrating for you after working so hard to lose them in the first place. Congratulations on turning the tide!
I'm actually an Australian so it is very new to me to count in calories (instead of kilojoules) and measure pounds (instead of kilograms). I love it because it sounds so much better to say that I've lose 11 pound instead of 5 kilograms. Also, 1 calorie is about 4 kilojoules. I'd much rather say that I had a 260 calorie meal then a 1 040 kilojoule meal. Trying to keep track of a 56 000kj per day intake would give me a headache whereas 1300 cals is manageable.
How are you getting your calorie deficit? Exercising more, eating less or both?
Awesome girls!
I started at 265 in July, I'm down to 209 now also! I'm so excited to get below 200. The last time I was under 200 was when I was 16! That's almost 7 years ago (ack). I would love to have these pounds off by the beginning of March, or mid!
I also overcame the 200lb mark a month ago. I can't describe the feeling except to say that it was the best. Jumped around for 10 minutes, up and down the hallway.
Now I'm at 192 eying the 190lb mark. Bloody number is driving me crazy.
Keep up the good work and it will definitely be worth the wait.

Actually, right now it is mostly through calorie restriction ... I'm taking a couple of weeks to get my eating back on track, and then will start incorporating more exercise. It'll be spring soon so that should make getting out and about much more enjoyable.
I have been waiting "patiently" to see that big 1 on the scale instead of a 2. I have seem to hit a wall, even though my exercise has increased tremendously. I am still shooting for the end of the month. Then I can do my "happy dance!"
Congratulations to you on your weight loss thus far!!
Me too Me too Me too
!!!
I started the year at 215 (well mid-January when I started CC) and am now at 207.8 as of this morning.... My goal is to hit the 200 mark by May 1st (so I celebrate my wedding anniversary on the 9th in skinny style).
Hi every one! It is great to hear from you all - including those who have already fallen below the 200lb mark. Congratulations to you on your achievement - I hope your keep visiting this forum to cheer us on and to keep promising yourself not to ever see the big 2 on your scales again!
I do agree with jko's post. While this site is for everyone, and I do think it wonderful that people who are already within a normal weight range benefit from caloried counting, I don't yet feel that I have much in common with them. For me, making the decision to take control of my weight was an enormous decision after years of denial. It has meant so many changes - starting small - and trying to form new habits. I've had to battle to change my way of thinking about food, about my body. I have been so embarrassed by my weight and wanted to keep it a dark secret (bit hard hiding these hips though!). Talking openly about it, not just in the safety of an online forum, but to family, friends and colleagues has been the hardest and bravest thing I have done in a long time. Also very liberating.
So I agree, jko that I find you guys so much more motivating. You are struggling with making enormous lifestyle changes - just like I am. Many of you have already lost fantastic amounts, others are making realistic goals and are full of positive enthusiasm and self belief that they will achieve them soon. I even find thos who have been experiencing plateaus or yo-y-ing to be an inspiration - even though you're finding it tough you are still here! To be able to accept your mistakes and not give up shows real character.
Can't wait till the first of us drops below 200! Start planning your happy dance moves. My husband has put in a request for a belly dance when i get to 200 - before i lose the belly altogether. I've told him that it'll at least be good for a belly laugh!

Stella, I'm also getting my calorie deficit through diet instead of exercise. I am trying to make sure that I take a long walk at least once a week - moving up to twice. Strenuous exercise and I are not friends - I don't know that we will ever be! However, i am sure that it will be easier to jog if there is less of me to bounce up and down!
Had a look at your pics - your face is so much thinner and younger looking now. I also like the haircut!
Gosh i remember that feeling of being able to put the "big chunk" scale weight over to 150 instead of 200.
I just got to move the "big chunk" scale weight over to 200 instead of 250. Feels good! I was dreading my weekly weigh in after a weekend of indulging! The rest of my hard work must have paid off!
lol, Jella--I have been enjoying weight circuit training mixed with eliptical, stationary bikes, and treadmill at the local gym. I do not run, but I got some advice from my sister, who got it from a book Slow Fat Triathlete by Jayne Williams (which is a joke in itself since my sister is the skinny mini type--a fit skinny mini type). I haven't tried yet since I don't want to be seen doing anything that even REMOTELY resembles any kind of higher physical activity but it goes something like this: Even if you can't run long distances, try small intervals, even 15 seconds, then walking double the time you ran. Give that a try, now or maybe after your <200 milestone.

Well, walking really needs to be the order of the day EVERY day for me, and for my DH (he has diabetes so exercise is very important in helping control his sugar levels) - better weather will help with that!! Even if that is all I do (walk) it will be a big help. I just don't run, really. Not unless something big and scary is chasing me!! ha ha.
Thanks for the sweet comments, too. I like my hair shorter, too ... though it pains me to admit that my mother was right and that after I turned 35 I became "too old" to wear my hair long and straight. Darn her. ![]()
Yes. There is the platform and then a stand with "Chunk" weights that you move across in 50 pound increments, then a smaller slide in numbers 0-50 marked by 1/4 pound increments. Does that make sense? Here is a link to a website with a picture. I don't know how it is everywhere else but here (in Wisconsin) they use those in the gym I go to and in most doctors' offices.
Ribear & Schelly,
Congratulations on dropping below the 200 line. How much have you lost so far? What were the most helpful lifestyle changes that you made?
I am getting close too. Started at 275 on October 1, 2007 and was exactly 214 this morning. I have not been below 200 pounds for at least 20 to 25 years; therefore, I am looking forward to it also.
